Firefly (zero points for originality)
Downtown (MTV cartoon)
It was a bit shit, in all honesty, but I'd totally watch more of them.
both absolutely awful, but i liked em anyway
Terriers was too
And The Prisoner but kinda glad that only got the one.
Controversial but I liked Studio 60 before those last few episodes made into a real shit show.
Or at least a very extended single series.
Besides it was about a bunch of high school kids throughout their final years at school - what else was there to say?
but it was cancelled half way through and the TV network didn't show the rest of the episodes until about a year after the original broadcast, after viewers demanded it.
There was a sort-of spin off of Freaks and Geeks called Undeclared which had some of the same actors set in the first year of university which also lasted one season (and also wasn't very good from what I remember.)
and then ends really abruptly as it's hitting its stride (there are some really enjoyable cameos from Freaks & Geeks alumni throughout, too)
Didn't the TV network fuck up massively and show the episodes in the wrong order? Bet that did wonders for the ratings.
They weren't even shown in the correct order (look at the transmission dates, some episodes were shown a year later than others) - weird.
surely it'd have quite an audience over here, especially given the current success of all involved.
I don't know, that's what I read somewhere.
It's all on youtube anyway.
especially given during my last watch-through of it, that I discovered that the only video with that dumb copyright muting thing on it was the final part of the final episode.
making serious monetary demands for Lady L
especially more comedy-orientated ones, often to the complete detriment of ongoing plotlines. Properly frustrating.
sometimes networks will pull shows early and then show the remaining episodes months later, usually in the summer when it doesn't matter very much. i think with this the ones shown much later were on a different network entirely. go figure?
and series' are just a series of episodes
...it's something no-one has ever said. Because when people say Season they mean Series, not Season.
and the other means "Look guys, I'm a bloody American tool".
but if you want to be all CAPTAIN PROPER ENGLISH LANGUAGE then be my guest
you can chose either the mid 1990s drama about astronauts or the 2011 drama about a superhero. both lasted one season so are directly relevant here.
Which one has the hottest female cast member?
was pretty good iirc
i liked when the guy with leukemia told the doctor his name was lando calrissian so when his friend phoned to find out his diagnosis she had to claim to be called judy calrissian <3
loved it though!
is my favourite TV show of all time
The SFX have dated shockingly and some of the subtext is heavy handed, but generally a lost classic of Sci-Fi. Got really good once they realised they were cancelled and it got proper dark.
plus The Lost Room and Wonderfalls
My So-Called Life
Freaks and Geeks
Pulling and Party Down only made it to two series before being cancelled, but were terrific too.
Canadian show based on Coupland's novel. Cancelled after one season.
Bonobo as a theme tune is always a great start and it was pretty fun to see a book I really enjoyed as a TV show that wasn't shit
The Day Today
but The Day Today could comfortably have had a second series. Wouldn't have worked with Brass Eye because people might have been wise to the tricks they played, second time around.
so that is sort of three in total
and indeed, three radio series of Blue Jam, all of which I have.
There was a fair bit of filler on The Day Today, and On The Hour went to two series and started spreading itself a bit thin.
The Armando Iannucci Shows. Masterpieces.
Especially the Steve Pising character
by the time the cat told her to "just leave", I was dry wretching with laughter.
Played the box-set to death - I mean loved Serenity and everything but a few more seasons of firefly would have been far far better
WHY JOSS? WHY?????
from amy sherman palladino (who created gilmore girls).
completely lovely in every way, genuinely hilarious at times and with these amazingly choreographed dance routines (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTO10Xgl0eM where a character expresses her INNER EMOTIONAL TURMOIL through the form of dance).
my heart nearly broke when it was cancelled earlier this year.
It still hurts. WHYYYYY ABC FAMILY?! WHYYYYYY
what's going to happen to poor ginny?!
won't someone ease the poor girls pain?!!!
Her heartbreaking last dance is not how I wanted it all to end. It had so much more to give!
between the two half-seasons. alas, we can only imagine now what great heights the travails of michelle & co would have reached. probably would have left breaking bad a distant and disappointing memory.
Odyssey 5 (well... technically it didn't even last one season)
really should watch it again tbh
but it was definitely all shown here on Sky 1.
was surprised that didn't get recommissioned.
so not sure if it counts.
Around 2005? Creatures started take over the residents of a town after a hurricane. It had quite a slow menacing pace, enjoyed it a lot. Had that creep William Fichtner in it too, great chap
Enjoyed that. Some terrible acting, but whatever. The failed alien attempt to replicate the fat beardy chap! :/
That show had limitless possibilities!
though i guess it could also be seen as season 10 spinoff or whatevs of BSG
and I loved Battlestar Galactica
it was meant to be a pilot for another series but ended up premiering on youtube in 12 x 10 minute instalments, which definitely to me speaks highly of its quality.
but didn't The Resistance and The Face Of The Enemy go out as webisodes?
this was meant to be a pilot.
but was ultimately ruined by using soap opera actors. plus the final episode was a huge rush job to wrap up storylines they had probably planned to run out over multiple seasons
Didn't really add much to the overall mythology. Had a couple of decent action sequences for what I assume was a pretty small budget. Worth a watch if you're a completest when it comes to this sort of thing though
Vic and Bob want to do another one but they can't get it commissioned :(
with Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher.
As if this had any intention of being popular.
Weird/creepy 70`s mini series for kids. Great stuff.
Unfortunately it was cancelled after one season. The theme tune for the show featured Billy Corgan as well, another reason for a second season.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSdhN_WWQ58
CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES etc.
Andre Braugher and his nuclear sub vs the world. Could have been okay once it got rolling - it had some great actors in Braugher and Robert Patrick.
Not sure about the remote island location (cheaper than filming in a sub I guess) but potentially they could have gone to other places in later seasons. Like, parked it off NYC and had adventures in the city or something.
