Just remembered I was actually thinking of the Borderline. Whoops.
Carry on everyone.
The Borderline is *well* shit though.
it's just the layout. It's such an awkward setup. Still, there are worse venues.
never been to a gig there, mind.
The Lexington is a great music venue. I've had many a good night in there. However, their drinks tend to be on the expensive side and their roast dinner doesn't come with much gravy. I do like it though mind.
I'm not that stoked on the food tbh.
you at least put a caveat of making sure theyre in good health
mutton-dressed-as-lamb top room. But meh.
and Eddie Argos spent half the night with his top off. The man's not exactly James Dean Bradfield.
Especially if I'm in a bourbon mood.
venue awesomeness is not graded by the selection of bourbons behind the bar surely? God you guys are so much less punk than me god.
for one thing I usually stick to the beer ohohoho. I actually quite like the upstairs part despite occasionally being there when it's been absolutely packed it's rarely felt cramped and you can always get a good view of the stage.
can't really remember what the prices have been like tho I guess.
as in most of the bottled craft beers are around £4 or thereabouts and 'standard' (Kroenenberg, Heineken, Amstel) pints are around that price to or just below. Given the area you could do worse really.
then it deserves a massive slagging anyway.
But it has it's role shit. Usually when you're apocalyptically pished and you NEED to go to a club that interrupts your night out at 1am with a pub band
Small, intimate, bit of character. So long as you don't get stuck behind a pillar the sound and the sightlines are good. Genuinely don't understand the problem.
The Lexington's a bit overrated to be honest. They've got the best bookers in London it seems (lots of quality gigs) but I always feel they oversell it and it ends up being a cramped affair. Also, the bar staff are aloof tossers and it IS expensive. Still, can't think of many better venues of that size. Obviously The Windmill but it's not had a decent bill on in months.
but once i ordered a guiness and the barmaid went off to make a phone call and i had to reach over the bar to stop it from overflowing, which is silly
