thought you'd like to know, it's good to get closure on these things.
did kik win his sandwich competition?
don't know where you got that idea from
caps. what synth?
i have no idea how to make it work
how much was it?
thanks to a nice link from BITT
i need one.
i think this will suit my needs tho - for now ha!
and a speaker into the front and widdle away
Or let me come round and play it?
pretty excited about making music again
but be plugging something in somewhere and turning to the camera.
korg volca bass, but the shop that i was buying through are just the flakiest. so i just went and bought it online and will have it tomorrow. am pretty interested in fucking finally having this!
but its why they are cheap.
(that and its a clone of '80s-'90s hardware)
record some Power Electronics
i got an 88 key controller the other day and i've got it plugged into mainstage 3
Mainstage 3 is fucking excellent <3
allows you to run a really easily editable/switchable live keyboard setup. basically built for performers who want to be able to have all their presets handy, and you can even take presets and sounds from Logic and therefore your actual song recordings straight into the program!
basically: if you want to perform keyboard, and especially if you need to be able to play piano sounds, organ sounds and synth sounds all from one set of keys, it's simple to use and cheap to buy
do do do do do
WE ALL PLAY SYNTH
da da da da da
talk to me about VST instruments. and which ones are good for cubase?
makes quite a racket
I have an old Yamaha AN1x, and I'd like to take all the pre-loaded and saved sounds I have on it, put them on to a laptop and play them via a midi-keyboard (maybe using Kontakt) so I don't have to lug the big synth around with me.
Is this sort of thing possible...?
because it's going to be a complete shit to get them across
But I'm guessing that would mean I'd have to re-program all my sounds again from scratch no...?
Is a MIDI dump going to be of any use to me at all?
I don't know WHAT software you'd use to read that dump, but Yamaha customer services might be able to recommend one.
And yeah in the one i've given you you'd have to re-program. But you at least get all the sounds exactly as you want.
I'm on my mobile ATM but I can sort you one out later or you can google for it
need to get one myself
But I'm presuming there is a Yamaha An1x VST or a freeware clone that can read or reproduce the sounds from the sysex data
sysex manager for mac
and for windows
I'll give this a go and report back...
Also have a feeling I won't be able to sort all this out before we go on tour in two weeks...ho hum.
What's your band? Link to some musics?
Doing a few dates with VV Brown from the 18th, then heading off on our own for a week. Got an EP out soon too, a couple of demos here (final versions currently being re-mixed/mastered):
curious to hear the final versions
Can hopefully share them next week. Interested in doing a remix perhaps...?
Pretty sweet synth.
I'm rinsing my Dark Energy at the moment, absolutely love it
Got another dirty noisy track to upload later and I'm picking up a Dark Time tomorrow too
this is all the Dark Energy apart from the Jupiter 6 doing white noise and the Moog Sub Phatty doing the 808 type kicks and some hihats
Is play the riff to Call Me Al
you should have got this one
it all looks beautiful
bit out of my price range tho!
(a lot out of my price range!)
i want that as well
but it has 2 gate outs & 2 cv outs plus clock in & out which means I can bypass midi/the computer entirely and run a set up like this;
Roland CR8000 drum machine: clock out ----> Dark Time clock in
Dark Time Gate1 & CV1 outs ----> Dark Energy
Dark Time Gate2 & CV2 outs ----> Moog Sub Phatty
Dark Time clock out ----> Roland Jupiter 6 arpeggiator clock
which still gives me and extra split layer (4 voices/8 oscillators) of the JP6 to play lead or other chords on
stick it all through my mixer, run the send and returns through delay & reverb and I've got myself a computer-free 'set up'
might do a 4-track EP in this format - wonder if someone can lend me a reel-to-reel...
all this is just occurring to me now
what's that game where you use wiki/google random articles for imaginary EPs ? What are the rules ?
gate opens and closes the gate ie triggers a note
gate will send note on and off voltage but not pitch voltage
cv1 usually handles pitch so the voltage output of cv1 corresponds to the frequency of a note (VCO f) (on a +1v/octave format in the case of our standard) but can be plugged into other inputs of course
cv2 usually handles the voltage control for the filter (VCF) but can be plugged in anywhere
the dark time is a 16 step sequencer which has 3 run modes; as a 16 step, as 2 parallel 8-steps (so you can have and 8-step note sequence parallel to an 8-step filter sequence for instance) or as 2 independent 8-step sequencers
I can run both the sub phatty via gate & CV ins AND the Dark Energy via gate and cv ins ...simultaneously! ...in a whole range of different configurations
so then I have a Roland CR8000 drum machine and a Jupiter 6
neither of them take CV and the CR8000 doesn't even have MIDI - it has Roland's pre-MIDI DIN-SYNC protocol - but the CR8000 has a clock out(a simple pulse trigger) that can be connected to the JP6 and synchronise the JP6 arpeggiator to the beat
now I can connect the Dark Time in between the CR8000 & JP6 and synchronise everything via voltages
plus I can have the JP6 in split mode which means it essentially splits into 2 synths; one 2-voice (for the arp) and one 4 voice that I can freestyle with on the split keyboard
i used a microsoft word template i got from the internet
without the need for a PC.
and split his keyboard in hlaf so can play 2 different sounds on it at the same time.
and now it doesn't work
it won't make any sounds at all
No one cares, no one sympathizes.
You just stay home and play synthesizers....
