Growing up I though soldiers could only be a whole piece of toast cut into strips.
The last few years I have been having (per egg) one slice of toast cut in half. One half soldierised and the second left uncut to put the egg scoopings on after the dipping is complete. It is a good system.
This weekend I discovered that some people have UNtoasted bread as soldiers and it is quite common. Astonishing.
