Doesn't get much lower than that.
they can't fucking give it away for that price can they? wise the fuck up.
'victim' et al
but is this not a pretty key piece of evidence in light of the allegations made against him?
Read the story from a reliable source. The evidence disproves nothing. Evidence of abuse wouod have supported the case but lack of it does not mean or even indicate the prosecutor is lying.
For a national newspaper to leap to that assumption and run with it as a front page story, potentially strongly implying a victim of child abuse is lying without a shred of evidence, is incredibly irresponsible.
Who here has had Full Sex? Can you be sure?
i'm laughing at the doctor's quote. stop making me feel bad
No more of this proper haircuts BULLSHIT
the headlines of a couple of days ago were doing a similar thing in the opposite direction:
Both are pretty indefensible. And make a mockery of our justice system.
But this one has the added edge of putting an extra stigma on abuse victims who might be too afraid to report it. I doubt many rape victims are going to be particularly enthused at the prospect of national newspapers shouting about their hymens and implying they're lying on the strength of a vaginal inspection.
It's difficult though - this is the defence he's making, and we have a long tradition of open courts and reporting on those, which I think on the whole is a damned good thing.
Just needs vaguely responsible journalism.
Clearly too much to ask for...
It would be a good thing if journalists were in any way reputable.
Not quite though. Unless every time he said the word victim in court he did so gesticulating that it should be surrounded by quotes then it's fair enough to assume that this has been crassly editorialised.
If the defence he's making is that there is no proof then, well, fine. I'm sure you could write 1,000 headlines which articulated that point without positioning it in the way the Daily Star have done, which is loaded and possibly dangerous.
papers always put 'victim' in quote marks on headlines whilst a case is ongoing.
you are an ignorant idiot who goes round trolling threads with insensitive and ill-thought through guff from the perspective of being some kind of enlightened truth-bearing right-on oracle. You're a moron.
I have officially had it with your posting, and I refuse to engage with you any more.
i'm pretty much the opposite of that.
newspapers will use quotation marks for 'victim' where guilt on the part of the offender hasn't been proven. or they'll say alleged victim. really not sure how saying this is "insensitive" to be honest with you. if you think it is "ill-thought through" then fine.
you're not looking very hard.
i was simply replying to his comment about the use of quotation marks on the word victim. that is the only thing my post referred to.
Definitely looks more tittish now then it looked when I wrote it...
a bit like when HBK fought the Undertaker.
don't agree with Jordan's opinion but you're coming across like a bit of a prick here really
in quotation marks.
In comparison, the Star one presents the word "victim" like that.
He used to be all over shit like this.
Was he in a relationship with her Mum or something?
after carrying out an examination 2 YEARS after the last alleged sexual assault
so no evidence either way.
but they are reporting on the defence claims in a highly publicised case.
Haven't got a clue about the case myself, but if he is innocent and she's lying: It's horrendous. If he's guilty and he did it: It's horrendous.
of the findings.
moker cut down tree, hunt boar
I was expecting him to be found guilty.
based on what I'd read about the case in the papers. He seemed like a slightly pathetic, lonely man with a drink problem, rather than a sex offender.
If he is innocent then the girl made it all up; that is one troubled kid.
but we just don't know and it probably isn't helpful to speculate on it.
I didn't want my first post to read as if I'm attempting to defend men who do commit sex crimes, so I thought I should add that proviso.
If he is innocent then there wasn't enough evidence to convict him. it doesn't mean that she made it all up.
in bars. One of them being a good mate of mine. He's a fucking tool who seemed to think that being in Corrie gave him the right to be inappropriate with girls around the age of consent anyway. I've no comments on this case at all, I've no idea if he would do that, but I hope that he doesn't get the 'poor little hero' treatment now.
suggest it is deleted
I can't imagine the negative press he has received (alcoholic, womaniser etc) will sit well with their target audience, but they obviously can't just drop him.
so as to be seen to do the 'right thing'.
the case has gotten so much coverage before a judgement was delivered that being cleared now isn't going to draw a line under things, even outside of his alcoholism/womanising.
Probably because in most such cases which come to court, the man is guilty.
Most rape cases still end in not guilty verdicts
and being found guilty are two different things
Perhaps also my own (unreasonable) doubts that have crept in since Savile, Hall etc.
its hard not to assume guilt sometimes.
I've said before (in the Stuart Hall thread) that over and above the disgusting crimes that Savile, Hall etc committed, the recent events surrounding them have knocked the faith I have in human nature.
we'll never know the full details of what was heard it court. It wasn't all reported due to anonymity of the accuser. Suffice to say that it's clear that the prosecution didn't provide enough proof to convince a jury of guilt.
Its a terribly sad case all round. The girl clearly has issues which need to be addressed because it appears she may have been lying. He will probably never work in TV again, plus has lost thousands of pounds in fees which cannot be reclaimed
though not just in the case of recent events..
John Leslie style.
just takes the opportunity to kick him despite the verdict
''Self-confessed alcoholic Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell celebrates after he is found NOT GUILTY of all child sex charges.''
''One-night stands, 12-pint drinking sessions and affairs as his wife battled cancer: Torment of the Coronation Street star plagued by 'little dark secrets' ''
Good old Dacre
is the sort of thing a dangerously retarded person might say
