which show will be the new Breaking Bad/Mad Men?
* or as we'd call them, programs.
As in, like those, and The Wire, etc, big-dollar US dramas that absolutely no-one watches for the first two series, the broadsheets start bleating on about somewhere around the end of Series 2, Twitter and forum try-hards start swearing by over the third series, than eventually the general public begin championing just after the final series gets announced?
Would be nice to watch something right from the start, but obviously no-one ever does that, really. Maybe Boardwalk Empire's an exception given as its UK airing was pushed so heavily and coincided with Sky Atlantic being launched, etc.
Shoot...
*programme
maybe in Scotland, pal.
I wonder if christina hendricks will land a part on game of thrones
Thinking about key unintroduced female characters
There are only two I can think of, and Hendricks is too old to play either
some people are saying Septa Lemore
(not in the tv programme yet so don't google this or you will be spoilered)
I've read all the books to-date so Im ok
That character was not one of the two I was thinking of. Had to look her up cos I couldn't remember her, and yes she might fit
Although probably not this season though, as she first appears in ADWD
nah thes in the first one mate
oh wait
I watched 11 episodes of House of Cards at the weekend.
Got the last 2 tonight, can't freakin' wait.
Did/have many people watched it? I've heard more about how it was released rather than it's quality.
yeah I watched it
thought it was quite good
yeah, it's very good.
just hope they don't try to span it out over five or six series, though, as they've done with Breaking Bad.
stop being a contrary cunt
stop personally attacking other posters because you don't understand what they're saying.
also, stop living with your mum, you're 40 ffs.
TROLL SMASH
yeah i really liked it
i wasn't very happy with how it ended though. but other than that it was great.
Ray Donovan on Sky Atlantic has gone relatively unnoticed on here (I think).
That's an excellent show. The best thing on at the moment.
Bad Girls
Just waiting for people to get round to appreciating Gilmore Girls for the incredible work of art it was.
nah fuck that
no mother and daughter talk like that. just an endless stream of bullshit. not having that. it's like something aaron sorkin would write if he had a mid-life crisis
Orange is the New Black
Yeah, this is getting a lot of hype from people with good taste generally
It's on my list to check out.
utter shite.
Not quite ^This but nearly
I'm staggered by the amount of praise it's getting though. The lead is an insufferable twat, the best, most interesting, well-developed characters get about 10 minutes of time dedicated to them in the entire series and everyone else exists solely to service the scene that they're currently in.
It could be brilliant if they stuck to it's strengths but instead it's trying to hard to be everything at once especially with the comedy. It's making the exact same mistakes Weeds did but Weeds was at least good for a few seasons first.
yeah
I enjoyed it but it's like a 7/10 with some episodes hitting an 8/10. A lot of potential and definitely worth a watch but way overhyped.
They've also lost Laura Prepon for all but a couple of episodes of the second series.
Yea, saw that. I actually thought she was one of the better rounded characters on there
She was kind of annoying but in a way that made sense as a character whereas Piper is just annoying not only as a character but how she's written to.
If the show focusses more on Sophie, Poussey, Claudette and Nicky next season they'll have something potentially very good on their hands.
and crazy eyes please
Yea, surprising amount of nuance to her character towards the end there
Atrociously and a little offensively one-note initially
Not even the best programme beginning in "Or" and ending in "Black"
Orphan Black is a bit lightweight but the lead actress is incredible (she plays multiple versions of one woman all with completely different personalities). I like it.
Two Broke Girls
I thought 'girls' and 'two broke girls' were the same programme
basically chicks innit
same fing
dipped into 'justified' a little while back
not new, but it seems like its gonna be decent.
I still enjoy it
but now I'm on S4 it's nowhere near as good as it should've been.
Not new obv. but been watching True Blood
highly recommended.
dont bother watching though KiK you'd hate it.
I've been told Low Winter Sun or summat is good
I'll give it a go in about 3 years
Rectify
and
The Americans
I gave up on The Americans
^Incorrect choice
It's excellent
The Americans is terrible.
It's on ITV.
Want to get in early with "its a bit rubbish really, isnt it?" comment?
Rectify is the answer.
heard good stuff about that on other forums
was trying to source it the other day but doesn't look like it's available in the UK unfortunately. Hopefully Netflix'll pick it up.
Hardware
Scandalously overlooked by all you indie point herders
Spiral and Braquo haven't really got the attention that they deserve over here yet.
I think it might be a bit late for them to become a staple of the box-set couples, but maybe.
