Just started on TV
but will give it another go.
The continued praise for this film makes me angrier than most other things.
It's just an awful Channel 5 made-for-tv film.
My favourite film I saw at the cinema last year I think.
gut instinct is the mum's telling the truth. not sure about the sister, and the brother sounds a bit dodgy.
find the whole film a bit uncomfortable to watch, and not in a good way. maybe they're murderers. maybe they're just desperate, vulnerable people who were willing to believe anything.
the imposter fella's obviously mentally ill, like.
quite a good story. dunno if it's a good film though
like... what's going on with that weird modern day bit at the end where the PI goes to the man's house with a shovel. i don't get it.
kept me gripped throughout, wtfing pretty much the whole time, spent hours afterwards reading about him
maybe a bit of an anticlimax at the end
though I feel like it was a bit of an anti-climax - I feel the sort of 'conspiracy theory' side of how Nicolas went missing was underdeveloped. Most of the film was obviously about Frederic, but then it seemed he just made something up about what happened to Nicolas, which was covered in the later part of the film, but not really fully investigated.
Obviously if there's no evidence supporting the conspiracy theory then there's not really much to put in a film, but it felt awfully rushed and undercooked compared to the rest of the content of the film.
It does seem pretty odd that Frederic could get away with it though. He literally looks nothing like Nicolas, nor does he sound like him at all. A lot of wtfing throughout from me.
