christ 2/7. thought I'd be all over this.
My gf just took an equivalency for it and we got a whole bunch of past papers to look over and they're dead hard.
The most stupid thing though is the amount of times they try and trick you up with double negatives in the questions and other underhanded tactics. Who the hell is that helping? There will be kids out there who have the knowledge but get tripped up by the question being phrased in a deliberately confusing way. It's daft.
That question's a bit nuts, isn't it?
I liked this other one which offered good dating tips to our kids as well:
I approve of using exams that way.
and what Scientists is SHE listening to?
Some stuff on there you'd probably not get unless you'd recently studied it, like the plants/nitrates one.
I was being a little facetious - a reference to his claims that mature students on University Challenge must somehow be better.
But I'll admit that 2 of those were blatant guesses.
I completely couldn't remember about the Atom one. I hated chemistry, though.
i don't know how i managed to remember that but it was the only one i was certain about. amqzingly though, i got the 230/240V one wrong despite WZA's thread today
i'm double japes at science
Back of the net
nearly tricked me with the voltage question though. Bastards.
having just read theWza's thread. total tube.
I got the voltage one wrong cos I said what it used to be not what it's changed too. I blame the EU.
Annoyed I messed up the sun one.
(the granite one was a guess, but shh)
welcome to the 7/7 club
science tests for 13-14 year olds aint got nothing on us
With one correct answer a guess.
And I'm almost finished a phd!
Never did standard grade biology. Good thing I didn't get any of the chemistry/physics ones wrong, that would have been embarrassing.
I'd expect most people would find it difficult
not sure why I settled on metamorphic for the rock question.
whilst I did Physics and Chemistry at A-levels.
and i haven't touched science since i was 15
did you guys pay attention in school?
The plant protein one was a guess though.
i dont need to do this test to be reminded of the difference between a solid, liquid and a gas.
spelling, on the other hand...
parts of a flower? the chemical symbol for hydrocloric acid?
(Hydrochloric acid doesn't have a chemical symbol, because it isn't a chemical element. It has a chemical formula.)
It's okay, you can admit that you only managed 2/7, which is lower than you'd expect if you'd just guessed them.
However, I got an A* at science GCSE. Just shows how little you remember if you don't use it.
the difference between monkeys and (j)apes
Got the voltage one wrong but guessed the plants/nitrate one
Got mass number and atomic weight number mixed up.
You're confusing atomic mass and atomic number, I think.
mostly educated guesses.
Dont remember learning any of that in skool. Don't remember learning it ever just guessed?
it's totally useless
Got the motherfucking 240V thanks to the fucking WZA. Thanks, theWZA. thaWZA.
