    • It's related to testosterone production,

      and going through puberty.

      • in reality it's related to being a dirty fucker.

        • Kind of.

The difference between whether you get acne mildly or severely is largely due to hormones, although regular washing with water and a simple soap is taken as a bare minimum.

Other things that affect it are stress and tiredness, using hairgel/wax (which runs down the face during the day), smoking, and eating greasy food with your hands (not the act of eating greasy food in itself).

  • blew up massively at 24

when I moved abroad to heat / humidity / diet change in Japan. Forehead was AWFUL.

    fidel_catstro | 15 Aug '13, 17:23 | X
    • Diet has nothing to do with it.

Eating food with your hands (especially greasy fast/street food) and not washing them afterwards does have a big impact - as it inevitably gets transferred to your face.

      marckee @fidel_catstro | 15 Aug '13, 17:30 | X
      • who died and made you king of eating greasy food with your hands?

(not the act of eating greasy food itself)

I constantly looked like I had some kind of disease. Best time ever to have zero self-esteem. When I moved back to my mum and dad's from 20-22 it flared up again. Must be their shit water.

  • Developed severe acne

at age 11. Thankfully, my mom soon took me to a dermatologist and I was put on a regimen of topical and oral acne medication. I never went on Accutane, though. The various meds helped a lot but even to this day, I'll get a few bad spots once or twice a month.
