friday supermarket thread.
used TESCOS this week.
thoughts...
- saw a record high tuna price, 4 tins for £8.39. ooosh.
- also noticed some alarmingly expensive ham, £3.18 for 4 slices. wuuuut?
- been getting well into OREOS again. 49p a pack, yes please.
- Sunpride mango joice, 50p for a liter. cashback.
- cornettos, 4-packs, properly cheap, but they're not the fucking proper ones, the twats. not on.
what've you been buyin', lads?
got some sour pastilles and refreshers lollies yesterday, wasnt sure which one I preferred..
both £1 for 6
sour pastilles lollies?
HOLY SHIT

Went to Hulme/Moss Side Asda yesterday
Couldn't buy any dried falafel mix. I was quite upset.
Tesco Everyday Value Cashew Nuts - A Warning
I thought I'd cheap out; they're nuts, they can't be much different? Fuck knows where they found these dried out skinny excuses for cashew nuts.
Bought some "Silly Straws" last night (impulse buy)
...And as i sat Alone in my flat last night drinking a bottle of Large Bottle of Red Kola using them, with no TV or Music on just staring at the wall, I got really angry at myself for what I have become and threw the Silly Straws out the window
:'D
bottle of large bottle, good one
I noticed this week that the Sainbos "Taste the Difference" ham hock and mature cheddar sammich
is EXACTLY THE SAME as Tesco's "Finest" ham hock and mature cheddar sammich. Even the bread is the fucking same. And they both have ale chutney.
now THIS is news
This information is nothing without a price comparison.
Sainsbos one is included in their £3 lunch deal, but the RRP is £2.95 IIRC.
I didn't see the price of the Tesco one unfortunately. They're even in the same PAPER FUCKING PACKET.
Please
I don't want any more details, I just want the prices.
Fucking HELL Balonx.
You'll have to wait. I'm nowhere near a Tesco.
I'm going to one after work but the sandwich gondola is out of my way.
Gondola
:D
I thought a gondola would be any end of aisle thing but maybe not quite. I should have gone with endcap.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gondola_(retail)
Not sure the Tesco one is eligible for meal deal though
Whereas the Sainsburys ones definitely are.
yeah i got oroes
Made a rare trip to Waitrose this week
as I was cooking this for the ladyfriend
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/pastawithcourgettesa_93036
They wanted £4 for 200g of Rigatoni! Outrageous.
(I don't do the weekly shop so this is as far as I go supermarket wise)
I can ignore sammich
but sainbos??
it's Sainos - you know this
that should be up a bit.
*sainsbos
no
great recipe that
often just have the pasta and courgette sauce without the spinach balls. Might chuck in some creme fraiche or some cream cheese, maybe some withered cashew nuts, see how I feel really.
I'm sorry but "Sainos" just sounds awful.
nah , normally id let this fly
but no
if you're keeping the B then you have to keep the S before
Not been liking the trend for boxes of limited edition Magnums, cornettos etc...
Which when you open them are FUCKING TINY.
agreed
Just got 3 mature cheddar cheeses for the price of 1 at co-op
900g of brand cheese for £4 quid, yeah go on then.
Also paid Costco a visit today. They have vending machines with 750ml bottles of mineral water for 25p, they should have these in more places and the likes of WHSmith should be ashamed.
been eating loads of cooked meats and deli counter stuff
salami, serrano, saucisson etc. Getting well into bresaola
Casino?
I'm about to go, probably about 3pm
stay tuned for further developments!
can you please check the price of the finest ham hock and mature cheddar sandwich?
thanking you kindly.
I'm going to Asda, not Sainsbury's!
however I do seem to recall they're £3 each or part of the £3 meal deal... so go for the meal deal instead of buying the sandwich alone.
FUCKING HELLLLLLLL
Not good news? :(
I am currently eating a horrible pasta salad I just bought from Tesco
£1.70
Things I will not buy from Aldi again:
Chicken; Chocolate crunch cereal; Quiche
Things I will buy from Aldi again:
nappies; maple & pecan crunch; squash
Maple and pecan crunch
Sainsbury's - yes
Tesco - no (why the fuck are you putting puffed rice in it?)
Nah I quite like the Tesco one.
M&S Triple Chocolate Crunch is the best of all the crunches
Make sure your pour the first bowlfull as it has LOADS of chocolate bits in and then whoever gets the second bowl, gets far less.
waitrose
(yeah, yeah)
has more broken fridge problems than all the supermarkets put together.
My girlfriend works there and is in charge of that sort of thing
She says the fridges are constantly going mad as soon as it gets slightly warm outside
Waitrose
a couple of quiches, some potatoes, some salad, and two 4packs of Staropramen.
It's the second closest supermarket to where I work. The closest is Asda, which brings out the snob in me.
Just had to run out to the spar shop to get caster sugar for a cake im baking
(In Scotland they call it the spar shop)
(In Spain there was Guernica)
tezzers recently
2 large red onions - 90p
whole bag of slightly smaller red onions - 75p
i'm no onion economist but that doesn't sit right with me man
are you allowed to call it tezzers?
Yes
well I I'm not sure that we should be
tezzers, sainsbos
pathetic
Got put out of the picaddily spar yesterday for not having any shoes onon
...
Got some Extra Special, corn-fed, boned chicken thighs from Asda's
For only slightly more than the normal breasts cost. Much more tasty.
Ended up with some ready to eat chicken legs from Waitrose for lunch the other day. Absolutely disgusting.
Morrisons better come good on the frozen spinach front this afternoon.
Co-op and Saino's Local cane up short yesterday, so no spanakopita for Wza until tonight.
Update:
Frozen spinach: check. (Spanakopita was lush two nights running).
Blue moon 4 pack was reasonably priced. As were Batemans and Williams Bros ales.
Frijj ltd editions were on discount @ 75p. Not nearly as nice as the choc or fudge versions, though.
Got me one of those sausage rolls with tomato sauce in it
http://tinyurl.com/mawwgz6
It's Peters sausage rolls and Heinz sauce but this could go either way really. Also available with HP brown sauce and ploughmans pickle. I'll report back.
Please do!
I've been looking forward to trying these.
just bought some Cadburys fingers.
a) they're smaller than they were before
b) there was 16 in the packet
thieving bastards.
