Ever met someone that was a triplet?

Lucien [Edit] [Delete] 62 replies 10:44, 30 July '13

I haven't.

Apparently roughly 0.15% of births are triplets, which is a very small amount but then I've also met a lot of people in my time. I've travelled boy.

And if you've got some information about what it's like to live in Streatham, then all the better - you can do that here too

  • You probably haven't been auditing during your travels tho - take a leaf out of Roy's book

  • With the increase in IVF soon everyone will be a triplet.

    • Not true

The survival rate of IVF fetuses has increased so they no longer need to implant multiple embryos, so in fact there won't be ANY triplets through IVF as they're not allowed to implant more than 2.

      • You could triplet your post by saying it once again.

        Balonz @golden_blue | 30 Jul '13, 10:50 | X
      • ha ha

Balonz knows nothing of IVF. How will he be able to show his face in Dadsnet again?

        • My sperm is ABOVE average in ALL categories (FACT)

so there was no need for me to know (me wife's eggs are fine too, thanks for asking)

  • Streatham is the setting for one of my favourite ever childhood novels - Chartbreak by Gillian Cross.

Read that for a full lowdown (and also a powerful story of ambition, fame, love and guilt).

    hip_young_gunslinger | 30 Jul '13, 10:47 | X
  • Yep

I have friends who are triplets. They were IVF babies (multiple births were more common with IVf in the eighties because they used to implant multiple embryos, whereas now they only implant 2).

They're super close and all have matching venn diagram tattoos (3 interlocking circles).

  • Petr Cech is a triplet

    #tripletfacts

    • ooh

      good fact.

      Lucien @Steved | 30 Jul '13, 10:54 | X
      • I saw Petr Cech turn on the Xmas lights in Weybridge

Can that count as knowing a triplet?

        • Were they his own Christmas lights in his house?

          SenorDingDong @Balonz | 30 Jul '13, 11:01 | X
  • I know some triplets

Also, my parents who some people who have three sets of twins (they only had the third set recently).

I really hope I don't have twins- so much hard work.

    PickledOeuf | 30 Jul '13, 10:48 | X
    • Conversely

my girlfriend would rather have twins because you get 2 kids but only have to go through pregnancy and labour once. I see the logic.

      I'm a twin.

      GetOffMyLawn @PickledOeuf | 30 Jul '13, 10:51 | X
      • Is you twin a boy?

If so did you suck each other off in your adolescence? Not sure on the rules of that and meths wanted me to check.

        Balonz @GetOffMyLawn | 30 Jul '13, 10:54 | X
        • Nope.

          GetOffMyLawn @Balonz | 30 Jul '13, 11:15 | X
      • I would ike to be a twin

I'd rather have two lots of mat leave though.

  • Oh, at a wedding last year I met a couple who had a two-year-old son and were trying for another,

and have now found out they're having triplets. I can't imagine it - imagine the money it costs, especially in the US, in terms of health insurance and eventual college fees.

or at least she said she was. She was small and a bit weird. I wouldn't have been able to thinly veil her if she was otherwise.

      • I've often wondered about what it would be like to be the girlfriend of an identical twin/ triplet

It would be dead awkward meeting his borthers, who would know DE FACTO that you pure fancy them (in terms of outward appearances anyway.)

        PickledOeuf @japes | 30 Jul '13, 11:38 | X
        • I've not actually wondered this very often

          Maybe like twice.

          PickledOeuf @PickledOeuf | 30 Jul '13, 11:39 | X
  • Yes

Someone at work had triplets about 18 months ago, and has brought them into the office on Christmas Eve. They were ugly and cried a lot.

    aboynamedgoo | 30 Jul '13, 11:35 | X
  • yeah I met some non identical triplets in at school

    2 guys one girl

That said I never actually met the girl so it could have just been an elaborate joke.

    wewerewerewolvesonce | 30 Jul '13, 11:36 | X
    • they weren't even siblings

      oojimaflop @wewerewerewolvesonce | 30 Jul '13, 11:37 | X
  • My girlfriend is

two girls and a boy. She couldn't be more different from her siblings though, they're both straight up engineering/science types, she's a bit wilder and more black sheep-y.

She explained to my parents (bear in mind she is French here) that she is a triplet because her mother 'took fertilisers'. Apparently triplets are much more common for IVF and HRT births.

    lemonbrickcombo | 30 Jul '13, 11:43 | X
  • I know one set

Three girls, two identical the other, not. Odd that I thought.

I live in Streatham. Hate it. I liked it when I was younger though. But I hate pretty much all of London nowadays.
Decent transport links into town from Streatham Hill (four trains an hour to Victoria, another four to London Bridge) plus a whole load of bus. Some very nice buildings. Comparatively cheap. A few decent-ish pubs.

    AcceptanceIII | 30 Jul '13, 11:58 | X
  • I dated a triplet once.

They were all so different to be honest (for a start, the other two had dicks).

    Ichor | 30 Jul '13, 12:05 | X
  • i've seen some about the place

    shrewbie | 30 Jul '13, 12:07 | X
  • Never met a triplet

But I've been living in Streatham for the last few months. I can only really describe it with "s'alright" - got some decent pubs within short walking distance, and the common is nice enough for an evening stroll.

TBH the best thing about it is the good transport links to Proper London. I do really miss living close to Camden, but it costs a small fraction of the price to be here.

    outspaced | 30 Jul '13, 12:19 | X
  • quite stabby in streatham, no?

    PickledOeuf | 30 Jul '13, 12:20 | X
    • how come every place I've enquired about is stabby?

I want to live somewhere not stabby

    • Nah

      outspaced @PickledOeuf | 30 Jul '13, 12:34 | X
