I really hate it and they've underpaid me this month, it can't be that hard to get a new one right?
all power to you, but bear in mind that as shit as this one may be, there's always a shitter one that tends to be up for grabs when you're desperate
really hate it, apply for other jobs whilst still in your current job. Your current job might feel better when you know that you're actively looking for something better.
they are currently hiring, and I am definitely an all around better employee/person than he is, so it should be fine, and if I don't get that I'll bite the bullet and get a job with my flatmate selling insurance on phones.
stick with it. Anyway, best of luck with whatever you choose.
I hate my current job so much but I started applying to others while I was still in it, got a new one and I've only got 4 more shifts to go until it's all over. Don't leave without a backup.
i wouldn't want to encourage someone to do something rash and out of character, but for me, I've only ever improved my work situation when there's been pressure to do so. Never have the motivation to look for more jobs when the money is coming in
Apply for jobs whilst still employed. It is a lot easier to succeed at interviews when you're still in employment I find. I know it's brutal, I'm in the same boat, but I'm currently just dealing with it knowing that in a month or so I'll be in a better job at least.
Got an interview a couple of weeks into my freedom and was this week offered the job, so no it's not that hard to find a new one. Have had a banging few weeks off as well, pretty much got to enjoy the brunt of the nice weather and feel much better for it. If you can afford to be out of work for you couple of months I say go for it.
best decision i made
did you do it?
Gonna find a new one first, got something I can apply for through a friend though.
Do it on a whim. Do it because you're fed up. Do it becaue you control your life. You'll feel amazing.
I did this, got a great job afterwards. Well, better. And more pay. Fuck it. Jobs come and go, just quit. I made my bird/skirt/crumpet/fluff do this a few months ago as she was miserable and she got a new, much better paid job and a month off inbetween.
Beleive in yourself. You don't need to eat shit your whole life. They can fuck off. you're in control. Do it. Don't even think about it. Do it before you leave.
I truly believe better things are awaiting you if you quit what you hate.
Whatever decision you make, don't make it at a low ebb, and wait at least 24 hours after you've decided 100% either way to be sure that the idea sits completely comfortably with you.
Job hunting whilst working full time can be a bit of a ball ache, but simultaneously, if it takes time to find something new, you don't need to explain away the gap and draw suspicion as to why the gap was there in the first place. Longevity (to a point) is seen as a positive regardless of whether the job was perfect for you or not, just because it shows that you can deal with it.
However all of this is dependent on just how bad your current situation really is. I quit the job before the one I have now because it reached a point where I potentially was going to do something so bad I'd be sacked, so better to just quit and use the notice period to apply intensively elsewhere and not have to pretend I'm taking a long lunch while going for an interview.
There's no one size fits all answer to this, but when you get bogged down with the gradual erosion of your self-esteem like this in a negative role, it can be tempting to think that you are the cause of the problem and that things can never get better. Just remember that this is bullshit, you're not a burden and that you just need to find a way, ANY way, to motivate yourself to move on to something new.
Fake it till you make it.
I could have done with you saying this to me back in January when I was so sad in my old job. It's so true what you write maosm.
