What were they like? Was there a Theo? And a Bamos-like absent father figure?
The t-shirts they sold were quite popular among the posters there.
there were <10 regular posters, I liked it, I don't think it's there any more though :(.
A few are quite good, one is filled with horrible cunts.
lots of bands and promoters sorting tours and stuff out and records being swapped and music threads that I'm interested in.
was pretty similar to here actually. lots of folk that knew a shit ton about great obscure music, but mostly just inane banter.
never posted though
managed to form a couple of (very short lived) bands thanks to that site.
he's not a racist or anything, he says it's fun engaging them and that some of them are quite intelligent.
I've got a feeling they'll go far
great bunch o' lads.
it was all rude and sexual
but it didn't mean anything sean
didn't you see the love in that other thread?
It has a spot on level of reprobateness that i can relate to! :)
It was hilarious:
famously unhinged posters, only about 15 regulars, half the regulars were mods, serious hazing of newcomers, an abiding love of Mitch that often manifested itself in bants that felt a bit too far at times, several relationships between different regulars that spanned continents - some successful some infamous. All wrapped up in serious punk rock knowledge and discussion.
Posted occasionally on Empire, B3ta and a few band sites.
horrible, horrible petty bastards are the IWC.
so we started our own wrestling themed facebook group instead where the bad people can't come.
The rock city forum years and years ago. There were a few fun characters on there but this one massive massive nerd mod pretty much ruined it all on his own by being such a loser.
The Forest forum on 606. Some god banter and 'inside knowledge' but also loads of jebs.
Also occasionally leeds music forum but the back slapping and nobendery on there are pretty much unbearable.
DIS you are my favourite.
the important thing is I'm here now
its very big with many subforums. There are many Theos and its pretty heavily moderated. I got banned for a week for talking about politics in a non-politics subforum for example. Its a poker forum but i dont really use that section anymore, more often read the tv subforums and games ones.
post occasionally on skypoker and absolutewrite but more often just lurk.
It was really humbling actually; I would recommend it genuinely
I remember it being very boring actually.
I never looked at that...
I heard it folded.
despite what everyone says, I've found it to be very welcoming here
For all your happy hardcore needs.
It was a hotbed of ineptitude, just like DiS in fact.
which changed into The Bear & Badger last year when Future decided the community wasn't worth it and shutdown the servers. About 250 strong community, current highlights include a bi-monthly themed playlist that about 30-40 of us chip into. It is a good place.
Haven't been there for ages. Haven't posted for years. Is Unlikely still the resident kik?
Unlikely went awol this year, my username is totally different over there. Badger is from the old swear filter for cunt.
and then re opened it I guess? I never went back after the first shut down tbh.
Then they shut it down and a bunch of people went off to make RLLMUK (which is now massive) and then Edge re-opened and it was the same for a good long number of years. Then a redesign hit and with it they were absorbed under the main Future Publishing website model, except we got lumped with a terrible forum (Dubbed BluRum due to its decor) which was barely functional. Eventually Future decided we weren't worth pursuing and that Facebook was where it was at, so shut down BluRu, but not before one of our number created the B&B which is basically where it's at now.
Some people are still posting from right back in the day, like Brooks and G.man.
I was on the post-rllmuk reopened version, melted away just as it was being absorbed into Future's vision.
Coming here after spending time on there felt like a walk in the park (with yer mum). Jumped up indie pricks are way less cutting than gaming geeks.
Terrorizer forum - In the mid to late 90's when I was a massive BM kid.
Libertines/ Babyshambles forum early to mid 00's
North Stand Chat (Brighton and Hove Albion Fan Forum) 09- present.
but there was no saving of usernames back then so I think there were others who posted as Elmo
Not sure if I ever knew there was actual chat rooms
my essay-writing years
I used to post on the MTV2 boards back in t'day. Made a couple of chums out of it at the time.
Douglas Adams Continuum
Coaster Sims (now sadly defunct, though I had several gold medals)
it's a bit like DiS in reverse in that the social board has less traffic than the MMA board, also I'd say the political views were considerably more on the right.
like music with drownedinsound.
A drinking forum - both depressing and uplifting at the same time. And Devachat for Chester football club.
