gimme some less well known but nonetheless very good ones, please, indie bellends.
But a slasher film all the same..
but how can you possibly disagree with this?
Switchblade Romance is a fucking incredible film.
I dont think I really like French horros tho, I found Martyrs well annoying
Admittedly the reveal wasn't the best, but the suspense in the last hour of the film. Fuck me! I don't scare easily, and this didn't really scare me as such, I just found it really really hard to watch.
i think my judgement is clouded because i really dont like the reveal, ill try it again
I won't spoil it, I'll just say it's something that seems to have been done to death recently, and thinking back on the events of the film, it's a bit of a stretch to think it could have happened that way.
Some good tension, perfectly enjoyable, but 'fucking incredible'? Nah.
Stage Fright (big owl-head wearing villain)
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (Man Bites Dog style deconstruction of the genre)
A Bay of Blood/Twitch of the Death Nerve (Mario Bava arguably 'invented' slasher movies)
Sleepaway Camp (insane twist)
Such a sweaty fellow
Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer (doesnt count really but its top)
Deep Red, and also, yes, big kudos for the already mentioned Switchblade Romance.
but watched Pin on Netflix. So fucking bizarre.
maybe slumber party massacre
I don't really know much about them tbh
intruder (both supermarket based)
christmas evil (both christmas based)
the house at the edge of the park (one has gorege from seinfeld in, the other is horribly disturbing)
teens get hunted in a closed up shopping mall. all the charm of a bad 80s slasher with solid characters and good kills.
amazing low budget slasher that's got a decent cult following. acting is terrible to the extreme, and the kills/plot twists make it a classic
friday the 13th part 4
not exactly obscure given the franchise that is F13 but it IS the most underrated in the whole series and if it wasn't for part 2 being legitimately scary, part 4 would be the best. it's got corey feldman, crispin glover, and some amazing boobs.
texas chainsaw massacre 2
forget that it's technically a sequel to the best slasher ever made. this is one of the funniest self-referential horror movies that also packs a few legitimate scares.
sleepaway camp 1/2
one is an expertly crafted teens-die-in-the-woods movie, two is a campy take on that. short, sweet, pretty much everything you want.
young creepy children use their innocence to get away with slaughtering people. because they can?
