People like me who work 40 hour weeks should get allotments to have somewhere to chill out after working a hard week.

There was something insane like a 40 year waiting list in Billericay. They're oversubscribed all over the country.

In cities, yeah, sure. In the town where I grew up they're being sold of to developers because no one used them.
Maybe I could get an allotment in the home counties and commute to it at weekends.
I think I assumed that if you couldn't even get an allotment in the countryside, they must be in short supply.
but in which all the houses have decent sized gardens. The council estate will have been sold off, and everyone will have their own vegetable patch.
Having said that, a big problem is that allotments are allocated, but then never used. The one at the end of our road had no-one using it at all.
They inspect you regularly and if you aren't using it, you lose it immediately.
