whyyyyyyyyyyyy Gaiman? WHERE IS THE BENEFIT?
Sandman always felt like something open to more...
It's not like the Alan Moore-less Watchmen prequels, which were nothing but pure, cynical greed.
I wouldn't say Neil Gaiman can do no wrong but.... why not?
I bet there are people who were all 'a spin off sereies about Death's sister? Give me a break! THat'll be rubbish!' too.
Am I missing something....?
i've never read the original, but i can't imagine how it wouldn't suck, especially after skimming this article
as long as you've got at least an ounce of goth-tolerance. His comic output is.. patchy, though.
but American Gods is one of the worst uses of the english language
it's so long! how did you even get through it
that was ages ago that I read it now.
i was recommended it strongly, and in fairness it's very readable
I just remember it being a fairly inoffensive little adventure thing, and then I'm hearing loads of people absolutely hating it. it was the sequel that I couldn't get through, which I think was one of the worst things I'd ever read.
For balance, I bloody loved the Mr Punch graphic novel.
Signal to Noise was worth a flick too, and I found the kids book "The Day I swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish" the other day and it's a great kids' book.
Would hope- actually, expect Gaiman is a bit like JK Rowling and has masses of backstory and unused material to draw from to create this, I'm not worried about how good it will be. I'm more worried about how bloody expensive it is!
Sandman is rilly rilly good.
Luther's back tonight.
One of the nice things about Sandman are the gaps in the backstory which are never really filled in. Doubt he's actually come up with an awesome new idea rather than been offered a sack of cash.
On the other hand, pictures by JH Williams III beautiful. One of the very few artists who'll get me looking at a comic regardless of the writer.
