Medicines you like taking

sadpunk [Edit] [Delete] 41 replies 13:42, 1 July '13

Inspired by sudafed talk in the hayfever tears thread.

That banana flavoured antibiotic stuff they give you when you're too young for tablets.

Resolve - but this seems to have vanished now. It was the ultimate hangover cure.

  • you can still get resolve

Better than resolve for hangovers is dioralyte. tastes minging though.

    I like medicines.

    • I can't find any Resolve anywhere

I like to have a stash at home - if you see some, I will pay you handsomely to send me some!

      sadpunk @PickledOeuf | 1 Jul '13, 13:46 | X
      • sure, no problem, I'm pretty sure I saw them in superdrug a couple of months ago

        • Is dioralyte that pond-green liquid?

          Think I've had that before.

          sadpunk @PickledOeuf | 1 Jul '13, 13:51 | X
          • it's in a sachet like resolve

it's basically salt anmd sugar, for restoring your electrolytes.

            PickledOeuf @sadpunk | 1 Jul '13, 13:57 | X
            • Hmmm

I remember having something as a kid that was a really unpleasant green colour. It was called something like dioralyte and my mum told me to drink it all because it would make me feel better.
I just remember disliking my mum more with each disgusting sip.

  • That banana antibiotic stuff, surely you mean Calpol, liquid paracetemol, not antibiotics.

The young kids one was the best, strawberry flavour. The banana one was ming.

    • The stuff I'm on about was definitely antibiotic

Amoxicillin; I had it for ear infections.

I can assure you that the banana one did not ming!

  • probably some chewable aniseed flavoured tablets that I had to take years ago for some form of oral fungal infection

    they were delicious.

  • Being prescribed Ritalin was nice

Didn't last long as I changed GPs, but it gave me a fantastic boost when I was really failing at getting anything done in life.

    • is that the ADD stuff?

How does it actually work? Do you just stop thinking about other stuff?

      sadpunk @Dans | 1 Jul '13, 14:26 | X
      • Pretty much

You kind of get tunnel vision, and find yourself working without really noticing. Normally, writing large pieces of work is difficult for me, but I was able to just sit and stare at the screen and get a lot of good stuff down without stressing myself out or having to think too hard.

  • Steroids

Have been on them twice for different things. First time it was like this magic cure that took me from being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, to pretty much back to normal in 3 days.

Second time was a longer period and the energy and appetite was refreshing as I had been in agony and hardly eating for over 6 months.

Still paying for it now though, put on a fair bit of weight and struggle to lose it.

Amazing. So right about the comparative lack of grogginess that you get with other medication.
