I've taken the motorail to nice before. it was great, just drove the bar onto it at Calais, then went for a snooze and woke up in Nice a few hours later. Lovely.
they don't do the motorail anymore.
Definitely going home on compassionate leave right now.
train travel is reasonably cheap and the TGV is amazing and the countryside is so lovely.
is oging to cost you AT LEAST £100 each way. Add on top of that your travel to london...
I don't know what ferries costs these days but it might be worth doing that to get to calais and avoliding the tunnel.
For about £200 each way you can just fly direct from edinburgh to nice with easyjet you know.
(not entirely out of selflessness, as I would quite like to go to france myself soon actually and I really like the trains in france.)
It occured to me that if you book well enough in advance BA will be cheaper than easyjet (as it usually is for going to france. You can change at Gatwick).
