well, this is embarrassing ... I was gonna JAG up my track Disconnect Yourself by saying how Tom Robinson had waxed lyrical about it and played it on his 6music show between Boxer Rebellion & Savages and how it had been getting lots of love on Soundcloud so I uploaded it to Bandcamp and now you can download it here
awaiting CGs snarky comments and hilarious tagging
can someone describe it please
Sounds like Talking Heads if they'd formed in the late 90s, signed to Skint, and gone on tour with Bentley Rhythm Ace and Lo Fidelity Allstars.
I like those bands!
Think i need to check this out.
I don't get involved in the tagging stuff. Not sure who does that.
I thought, 'I wonder if that's the same BITT that posts on DiS...?'
Good track, well done.
It was indeed I
I wonder, could I trouble you for some kind of description?
I'm crap at describing music. Sounded a bit electronic-y to me ;-)
I don't know if I said last time you showed this, but it's fucking brilliant.
before it went mainstream
Not sure it's quiiiite hit the mainstream yet but maybe it will
It's got groooooove.
And fuck me if CG's description isn't spot on.
And it is unnervingly spot on
Head full of memories but how long will they last.
Can't remember if I left a comment on the soundcloud post of this, but I really like that lyric.
...someone should start a twitter account
Yeah, pretty pleased with the lyrics for this - total accident as they were
Definitely getting the Talking Heads/Matthew Dear vibes.
thems some good vibes
LCD Soundsystem fronted by David Byrne is my two penneth
you are GREAT
it's still really guid, totally agree about the talking heads/LCD hybrid comparisons too
I like it, a lot.
Here's my description from that thread - ``Sounds so laid back and effortless despite the intricacy. I get slight flavours of Talking Heads from somewhere deep within it, though i can't tell where. Utterly original.``
The groove is this song is a mile deep. I tripped over it and still haven't hit the bottom.
Swerve the (edit) version. All 6mins 45secs or gtfo. It doesn't feel a second too long.
big up your bad self dead_fred :)
The synths and general groove remind me a lot of Headcage by Matthew Dear, which is a good thing.
it's a bit weaselly to populate the thread with expletives at the top
does that not also make it invisible to some folk because of work filters and so forth?
also makes it pretty much impossible to link people (non-DiSsers) to the thread without immediately offending them
I've removed the ones that are a bit more dodge. Although no doubt they'll return. I can move the thread to the Social board where it doesn't get tagged so people who want to post stuff will actually have to use a username.
The social board eh?
They're too busy making mum jokes and meta-squabbling
throw it over to the social ..erm.. lions
...this will probably be the last reply in this thread
And maybe produce it, too.
Richard Fearless needs putting back on track after cocking about on the last album and you seem to be up to the job.
I'll have my people call their people
massively glad i did. gots a reece grooving at his desk right here!
it's ace - impossible not to dance to!
unreliable results given the sample size though
still .. :)
