Contracts up in 2 weeks and I'm off sick for the next 3 though so no need.
could live for a year on that and do some things i really want to do. i'd probably have to spend the last three months of the year hunting for another job though.

Admittedly, that was chucking a job to go be a student again. If I was to do it again I would give myself about £10,000 (excluding paying for fees). I did it on much less than that and it has neither been fun nor easy.
On the other hand, how much would I need to make it worth throwing away a year of work (I don't finish until September)? Maybe £75,000. I reckon I could pay to do a three year PhD with that.
