why would i give you a biscuit after you are jut picking holes?

where - what place?
why - what reason?
when - what time?
who - what person?
how - what method?
which - what one?
so it is probably something along those lines, the wh start was some olde English word for what and the ich, ow, en endings were all words as well.

First and foremost the word 'question', naturally.

only need to mouth the letter 'w' in fact you can just go 'w..w..w?' and people will understand that you can even phrase a question, you are that taken aback
which is because when you think about the natural evolution of language you start with a general concept: 'question', and break it up into different meanings. So to make it conform with a system already being built you use words that sound similar.
You know what I mean?
dumb it down a bit
word has too many meanings.
word partitioned into similar sounding words
many words made but all sound same for convenience
happens in latin
then happens in English
derivatives are necessary
and over time the triangles within it are created to serve a purpose BUT STILL within the core concept.
