he does have a point in that some argue civil partnerships create legal situations in terms of things like inheritance that some think are discriminatory, and there are some siblings for example who would like a (non-sexual I assume) civil partnership. And what should stop them?
Same-sex civil partnerships or marriages don't have any bearing on the inheritance tax situation of the people in that article. The only way that it's possible to even think this way is to make the implication that same-sex relationships are worthless and only useful for tax purposes.
"I don't have the status of a lesbian" is just bigoted bitterness.
