Tell me of yon weekend and its..... Happenthings?
wednesday is a holiday, YES.
i might be sunburnt and am actually ok about being in the office today and doing mundane things. apart from that my lunch is rubbish today. so yeah.
Two four-day weeks in a row :D wait unless you're somewhere with no bank holidays. I think you might be. Crud.
four day week this week and next week, then a five day week, then two more four day weeks. catholics LOVE holidays.
Saw Adam Buxton do a special Bowie Bug thing at the V&A. Danced to Scuba. Ate curry, ramen, a fry up, cake. Went to the Olympic Park and up the Orbit. Photo exhibition at Somerset House. Lovely.
This week: Low, Mountains / Tim Hecker, Friday I'm off work, beer festival, gonna buy a Nexus 4.
Life is great sometimes.
Congratulations in general. I'm still yet to see Buxton which is ridiculous >:-(
He's wonderful. Loads of people got their photo taken with him after, I wanted to (because I love him and ohgod that beard) but he really looked like he just wanted to get home.
How great is the word "smorgasbord"?
Was watching Spoon at the Borderline a few years ago, it's a sold out show as you can imagine. My brother slinks off to the bar to get four pints while we're waiting for them to start. Quite a while later he comes wandering up, looking a bit pissed off at the lack of assistance from us with two pints in hand, closely tailed by Adam Buxton also holding two pints and then gives me one pint and hands the other to our other mate. My brother turns to him and says "cheers mate" and Adam wanders off.
Turns out my brother was trying some sort of pyramid formation to carry the pints to us from the bar, then Buxton saw him and offered to help him carry the load. Also turns out my brother had no idea who Adam Buxton was.
When I saw Spoon at the Electric Ballroom a few years ago, I was in the loo when I got a text from my boyfriend saying OMG I'VE JUST SEEN ADAM BUXTON but he'd disappeared by the time I'd got back.
He likes Spoon doesn't he? :D
I remember reading this post and the fact that Adam enjoyed it so much too made it all the more satisfying.
Friday, a Chinese, a few beers.
Saturday nice food, beer festival.
Yesterday golf, played alright. Watched football
But now it is the day of the Mon. At least it's sunny though.
Thought it was gonna be a crummy day. Still, now it's great weather to be sat... Indoors :(
Highlight of my month. Also booked up to see John Grant on my birthday, it was far too much money but I'm not even bothered.
Sadly not the viking exhibition because I dont get paid for 2 months. Saw Egyptian stuff though, which was pretty cool. Then watched loads of bottom, which was as classic as ever.
Left my fackin rizlas and baki at home ughh
made leaving the house at 6.40 much much easier.
decent weekend, went to a wedding on saturday, heard my wife sing (properly, for only the second time in 8 years) <333333 drank beer, ate pig. didn't do much yesterday, apart from eat more pig and watch some stuff. Oh, i've been called to court for an attempted murder case, where there's literally only one question i will be able to answer, need to phone the CPS and check that they don't think i can give more information that i actually can. Also will probably mean i spend most of my bday in a courthouse. :/
Were you a witness?
just supplied medical records.
friday: had a sneaky burger out and worked out. watched some tv. probably should've done more but i was knackered.
saturday: woke up and did a work out. then picked up my sister and took the dog a swim, and then headed over to meet some friends in thw west end to watch some shinty. then after that picked up some mince and made tacos. had some beer.
sunday: cleaned the house and went shopping - bought new dumbells. pal came over and we had home made chilli. then, later on, a victoria sponge.
didn't lose much weight this week. whoops.
so you broke even
And i can't stop crying
I had a fairly quiet weekend.
Friday hung out with gf.
Saturday went to a friends house party and did karaoke.
Sunday: treked around london hungoever from friends house to gf's house via mine. Slept.
and was all reverent with admiration for a second there
I got top grades for everything except "understanding the importance of people". PEOPLE SCHMEEPLE.
so I've now got top marks on two of four from this semester. that's nice. just got not screw up my exams.
also went to see Iron Man. the post-credits scene was the best thing ever.
people are made of flimsy rizla-thin skin and tears.
You made the right choice, gunty
I think I know what you're talking about
I continued to live my life. Got a teapot
Excellent sort of elongated weekend. On Thursday I had the first barbecue of the year with some models and some lesbians (but no lesbian models, tsk) and went to a brewery in Bethnal Green that only opens on Thursdays. On Friday I had a dull meeting but bookended it with breakfast and dinner with friends I don't see very much, which was awesome. On Saturday I slept and watched The Master again, and yesterday I had more breakfast with friends and then watched Mulholland Drive at the cinema. Seeing Low tonight, so everything's coming up Milhouse at the moment.
Also about to start a new project at work that will mean I'm not on DiS for a month or so, so that.
I've tried that a few times but I always end up back here.
It just means working somewhere with a rubbish internet connection.
I'm gonna go to the library in a bit. But I'm in bed. So I can't right now.
Also, King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia definitely fancied really tall men http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potsdam_Giants
What should I do about this?
Took the cat to the vets to get more pills. My cat has high blood pressure but was only tested a month ago. She has to have blood pressure tablets for life. The vet took my cat for a blood pressure test for about 5 mins and said it had gone down a bit. Got to the till and she charged me £70 for that test! I didn't ask for it to be done. She didn't tell me how much it was. She didn't even ask if we wanted it done. She just took the cat downstairs.
So when he said its £70 (total bill was £162), I queried it and she said its not a routine test which is why it cost £70! I said I don't really have much choice but to pay it and she just said 'not really' so I HAD to pay it! Is there anything I can do? I was really put on the spot! Now I can't really afford much this month as £90 on the cat was enough without this fucking test that wasn't really needed!
I'm thinking a letter asking them to credit my account with £70 and copy in the office of fair trading?!
we got frank neutered the cost they quoted was about £140 or so, but then it ended up being upwards of £190 because they gave us medication and stuff. now, that's a bit different; he needed the pain killers and stuff, but you'd think they would've told me the full price!
i was a bit annoyed at the time but afterwards i was livid. didn't do anything about it. maybe call the CAB?
She told me the price of the medicine upfront but £70 is a lot and she should have confirmed I was okay with paying that before sticking something up my cats arse!
Colon_closed_bracket works for the CAB I think! I may see if he can assist! I'm pretty sure it's illegal. It's like me going to the hairdressers for a hair cut and she puts an expensive conditioner on my hair without telling me its going to cost an extra £20!
So the weekend was obviously a bit of a downer. Quite glad to be in work.
Hope you're as ok as you can be x
she was a tough old bird, held out as long as she could.
Then had to avoid the house party on Saturday as it transpired that it was yet another event that the guy who assaulted me was going to. Getting really fed up of him being at everything :( But anyway I went to the comedy night that I love and it was great.
Went to see Iron Man Sunday morning then went to work.
WORK WORK WORK
but it's just annoying that I've become like a hermit and have to make excuses all the time about not going out. I posted about it a while ago, I basically don't go to anything or see my friends anymore because he's always there. It's easier this way anyway though, he's very popular and even lots of people who don't like him or have been on the receiving end of similar aggression still say they need to stay on side with him because he runs nights/books gigs/is unavoidable or important to you if you're in a band etc. He might be a better person now anyway, he might have changed, even so I don't want to be near him.
why would you want to keep someone like that 'onside'? if enough people are aware of it i'm not sure how they haven't been ostracised?
who is it?
most people think he's a really nice guy because the girls he's been a dick to don't tell anyone, or he manages to charm his way out of it - he's just not a very nice person but some of the people who choose to be friends with him are also my friends and are really lovely so they're clearly totally unaware that he's slept with their gf/he's using them for his own gain. It's sad.
And I'm not naming him on here! I think you might know him, and other people here certainly do.
it sounds like an awful situation though scouty, i'm not sure what i'd do :(
I agree with Jordan, I don't think you should keep this quiet. Maybe talk to one of your mutual friends and see what they say & suggest.
They're going to knock the oss over I know it. It's ok though
Compere struck gold with a guy at the front whose job was "stud marketing". One shit comedian and two good ones, so happy overall.
Had excellent sushi and watched Iron Man and cooked healthy-ish lasagna and did exercise and played Munchkin and baffled my gf by being overly pleased at getting a good item drop in a computer game.
Good weekend. Fuck off Monday.
by snuggling up with another housemate on the sofa, to cycling around Richmond Park four times, it was a weekend of (at times literal) ups and downs for me.
This week will see me heading back to Bristol for the first time since I moved to London back in October, before hopefully reuniting with a girl I'm really quite fond of who has been in the US for a month. I'm getting butterflies just thinking about it, Jonathan.
and the other two are shacking up?
Went to Some Weird Sin on Friday night with Simon Price on the decks. I danced all night, it was brilliant. Saturday was spent in recovery with my house mate eating pizza and watching eight hours of Spooks. Yesterday I went to the outdoor pool in Covent Garden early in the morning. Then we had band practice last night. I love living in Bloomsbury. I can walk everywhere and have already shaved money on travel.
Thought she would be over it by now but she stomped out of the room in a strop and didn't come back down all night.
Good food, good beer, good football and finished a good book.
Going to see Iron Man 3 this afternoon. Smart.
clobbering time or angry passive aggressive inaction?
all the chairs look the same. just my settings are now fucked.
As an act of courtesy, because my notice period is only a week and it'll take longer than that to recruit a new person and it's really difficult to run this place with only two people on the rota. Anyway, it's going to feel pretty great. I might ask her if I can do anything else for her that might beef up my CV a bit. That's a good idea, right?
Good move beefing up CV
I got in to loads of trouble a few weeks ago for having quite a bit of time off with the flu. He is consistently late, lies about why and get away with it because our line manager is his uncle.
Sounds a little spiteful tbh
And he was like "don't come in, we don't want your virus. I won't put anything on the rota" then he went home and told his uncle. Yes, it seems spiteful but see below.
One quick tip though, don't spend your notice period acting like such a dick from sheer relief of finally leaving to the extent that you burn bridges in the process. Even if you're never ever going back there, you never know when you might work with some of these people again, even if it is of low low probability.
They're all tyneside born, bred and will probably never leave the area. Most of them still live with their mums. The only one who doesn't only doesn't because his mother is dead.
I'm moving to the north-west.
I get so much shit here because I'm the only member of staff who won't argue back to someone senior. I know it sounds spiteful but I'm fucking sick of being picked on my my manager.
I am feeling almost euphoric today. 5 days left of work, 5 days left of living in Welwyn Garden City, then 2 days playing gigs then I move to Brighton. SO EXCITED Y'ALL.
Weekend: me and the bf celebrated 6 months together by watching documentaries on North Korea and eating vienesse swirls. Also watched This Must Be The Place, that film with Sean Penn. It was alright.
It seems only yesterday you were saying on here how happy you were to have met him :-)
but our relationship has been so effortless and so much fun. My last relationship felt like it lasted an eternity, probably because of all the needless arguments and and tensions that came with it. It's nice to just feel comfortable and relaxed.
Someone called him a 'black cunt'. Nice.
Is your mate black?
Face is nearly fixed I think. I went for a coffee and cake with gf/gf's dad/gf's nephew this weekend though and I was completely knackered afterwards. Probably the longest I've been out of the house in a week. Went to the doctor's this morning for an appointment and it turns out I was 24 hours early. I guess that shows how feverish I was last week. I'm meant to be back in work on Wednesday but I think I'm going to ask for another sicknote until next week, idk
