Anyone else a fan? Absolutely love this shit.
which is just as well, since his lectures are regularly 12 hours long.
I don't think you need to believe what he says in order to really enjoy it, either.
you think he's a massive mentalist, you have to admire the effort he puts into it and the scope of his theories. I've never seen one of his gigs, but i've read they can be hours long and ridiculously in-depth. I don't believe in shape-shifting rapist jew lizards, but when you hear him talk about his more general theories, you've heard more far-fetched stuff.
Also, that guy's a really good narrator.
but both him and his theories have become increasingly more accepted by wider sections of society in recent years, and he doesn't seem to be as much of an object of ridicule as he used to be. He was recently on Russell Brand's chat show with Noel Gallagher, who said he'd been to see one of his shows.
But yeah, I think he's hit his peak, regularly selling out venues the size of Wembley Arena etc.
Once someone's been a public crank for long enough, they almost become affectionately accepted.
My mate Geoff who's well into the more outlandish end of the conspiracy spectrum (so far gone that I think he's actually lost the plot) says that Icke's an agent of the New World Order used to spread disinformation.
Basically the conspiracy theorists' equivalent of "I preferred their earlier stuff."
Gonna have to visit there again and see. Perhaps on halloween.
My parents live relatively near Mottistone. Heh.
it's worth noting that David Icke eschewed a mainstream media career owing to the fact that he believed that the people who controlled most of the mainstream print, radio and televisual media in this country were complicit in a system which led to the widespread sexual abuse of children.
People laughed at the time, didn't they?
Icke to me isn't too far removed from Noam Chomsky as an anti-authoritarian but with a tendency to remove the anarchist bits and replace them with shit about lizards. I like him.
and how it would be a pretext for war in the middle east.
Move over ignoramuses here comes the CERTIFIED DAVID ICKE EXPERT (also available for menswear advice and plastic contamination warnings).
However most of what I wanted to say was here, in a thread I made a few months ago:
I also rate the guy. I don't believe in the lizards, but I believe a shit load of what he does say. He's very on the ball with connecting the dots. There isn't that many people who are - Mainly because there is no call for it.
He was normal.
It's the reptilian illuminati's fault.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ISLE OF WIGHT ILLUMINATI? aka the IOWI.
plasticniki is definitely the ringleader (see her posts in this thread for the damning evidence)
mac_daddy (I *think*, though I may be horribly wrong)
about the paedophile ring operating out of 10 Downing Street is scarily convincing.
He continues to name Lord McAlpine in the piece, it's still up on his site long after the controversy and associated legal action.
The reason McAlpine is not pursuing legal action is because defamation only counts if the person writing is capable of defaming people in the eyes of 'right-thinking individuals'.
I think Icke's account is worryingly plausible. At the very least, the fact that it seems like it could be possible speaks volumes about the Conservative party.
Here's what I wrote about the paedo thing only a few days ago (it's only a short DiS post):
Also watch David Icke chatting standing up (so you can identify the video on youtube) about the Occupy Wall St movement. He's spot on. He's no fool. He just believes there's ruling lizards. Apart form that bit.
on a, supposedly, mass scale makes as much sense as any other reason why institutional child abuse exists and is covered up.
Certainly is an interesting thought, isn't it?
of human psychology, politics and unbridled power, but 'satanism' is a nice simple stand-in much like alien lizards are a nice stand-in for the incomprehensibility of global power structures
I don't think Icke's thoughts on the matter do a disservice to that position though. Sometimes it's helpful to have another frame of reference/perspective on the table (whether you agree with it or not).
is that many aspects of the world, including the fact that major governments have evolved to systematically oppress large swathes of the world's population through either ideological or economic ends. Now THAT is bonkers. The fact that this exists is bonkers.
All David Icke is REALLY doing is trying to figure out what has happened to get us here and why the world is why it is. He reaches some pretty crazy conclusions to the mainstream mind but, really, are those conclusions in their essence more crazy than some of the actions of those in power?
I don't agree with much of what he says to be quite honest. And I find him quite arrogant. Although I see him as a logical consequence and creation of a quite illogical world, as opposed to a lone "mentalist" in the darkness rallying against a world which always makes sense.
Whether or not you agree with him - the world is richer for him being in it in my book.
