where it made it easier to read because of the typeface. Theres no reason for it nowadays though.
Really wish we used software that ignored extraneous white space unless specific hoops are jumped through.

They should be banned from writing anything ever again (or at least not expect me to edit it).
Find and replace with a full stop and one space. Do the whole document in one go.
I understood at least half of that.
One for a comma, two for a full stop. I know it's fallen out of favour now.
So I'm gradually getting out of the habit because it's annoying to have to change once something is written.
as any multiple spaces are parsed to a single one.
Which is why I'm sticking with two. Looks better in print, and the web overrides it, so no worries. Win-win.
But I'm too stubborn to bother to change the habit.
Maybe if Oxford commas were uniformly adopted then I'd make the effort.
