Friday Supermarket Thread.
How's yer shoppin' gone this week, lads?
I didn't do a bigshop this week, but i did purchase a lovely tomato and wensleydale soup from ASDAS for a quid. that was nice.
was also disappointed to find out that they've stopped stocking Rolling Rock lager, which i've been drinking if i'm up early the next morning, as it tastes alright but is pretty low alcohol. they were doing it for £1.50 for four bottles as well.
anyone ever tried Yorkshire Tea Gold?

yorkshire tea gold
tried it, preffered the original. even did a blind taste test several times with my girlfriend. both of us preffered the standard yorkshire tea
Standard's all you need.
got this harissa meat rub. big fan.
Got my card declined in Iceland which was a real low-point
Big ASDA shop this evening probably, gonna stock up the freezer like a bastard
Had a nice Chicken and Ham Hock 'Bistro Pie' from ASDAS last night
Took advantage of the 3 for £5 on the massive bottles of TsingTao again too.
I realised earlier that I haven't been in a big Tesco since I came home from University last May. I've nipped into the Express near me and the Metro in the city centre, but not been in a superstore like. Strangely there isn't one near me or my girlfriend's house.
too early.
OK, now i'm ready.
Got some nice Assam from t' Co-op
Nice strong cup of tea without having to brew the fucker for 7 or 8 minutes.
Waitrose have some new kind of Haagen-Dazs on offer at the minute
Don't get the creme brulee one. It's shit.
Got a bottle of the Waitrose Good Ordinary claret on Kitchmo 's recommendation from that wine thread. Haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it.
My local Sainsbury's are selling these things called 'nadorcotts'.
They're basically satsumas, but guaranteed taste amazing. Lovely.
On the downside, the cider bit of the booze aisle keeps growing to the detriment of the minimal interesting beers they sell :(
Sainsbury's are one of the worst supermarkets for decent beer,
I reckon.
the one i go to has a good range
its a big supermarket n that though
you're right about that
Morrisons are certainly the best for that.
Tesco and waitrose are both pretty good for UK beers, but not so good for foreign ones.
Yeah, always found their booze offering a bit shit
I'm struggling to find decaf Yorkshire Tea
I bought a nice luxury mushroom soup from Tesco yesterday, whilst there I picked up a duvet cover for my bf's kids. I didn't know that was a thing, that you could buy things from Tesco Direct and pick them up at crap little petrol station Tescos.
I am tempted to buy the duvet set for myself now too: http://www.tesco.com/direct/outer-space-double-duvet-set/215-5839.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=215-5839
that duvet cover's amazing.
i'm going to buy it.
you can get the sheets to match too
it's so cheap! It feels quite rough but it should soften in the wash.
I just saw! Incredible.
Probs give it to my boyfriend for his birthday. I'm sure he'll love it*.
*I don't care if he doesn't.
the pillowcases are included too
in fact, I've just convinced myself to buy it again
spunk stains can't compete with that
I had a tomato and wensleydale soup the other day
it was rancid
something about yer ma's clanger.
bit mean
Cheese in soup. Fan.
Cheese soup. I'd give it a go.
love using a pack of cheesestrings to mop up soup rather than a spoon
can we lay off the serious talk and just revert to food-based chat, please?
cheers.
New Aldi's just opened locally.
Checking that out on Sunday.
Rolling Rock tasted like water.
smallish bottle of vodka
coke, cereal, milk, eggs, bread, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, wraps
cost about a fiver. ukraine is pretty great
How's yer shoppin' gone this week, lads?
:)
Bit sexist that
Particularly when it's usually a womans job to do the shopping.
I've never understood that actually, my mom is pretty inefficient at shopping (takes ages, forgets things, etc) and I'm assuming women in general to be the same, whereas myself and my dad can whip around the shop and get everything we need in a fraction of the time.
pretty good.
I bought a leek yesterday. havent done that for a while.
really?
It is a rare trip indeed when I don't buy a leek. See also: sweet potatoes.
just one of those things i dont often cook with.
but i always think, 'i should cook more of these'.
just went to morrisons and bought some lemonade and fresh hot cross buns, didn't i?
Got given some free Higgidy pies this week. Lovely stuff.
Not a big pie eater, but I'd have these again. Think Sainsbury's do them, maybe Waitrose.
Got to go to big Tesco tomorrow to shop for a birthday party tomorrow. Going for a Mexican theme. Wish we'd thought ahead and ordered a delivery instead.
waitrose definitely do them.
Never had one. Good are they?
Like I say, I don't eat a lot of pies, but I liked this one (beef and stilton) - packed with meat and not dry at all.
got a "price promise" voucher from Tesco for £1.35
GET IN.
been nailing the prawns this week
on offer at a fiver a kilo
also bought a big slab of ham or something, not sure what cut it is
and duvel
nailing prawns?
disgusting.
light soy sauce. what's the point? is it for teh ladies?
dark - now you're talking
