Any unusual fire alarms at your places of business?
we all have to go and sit in the bottom office and wait. definitely not allowed outside unless we hear otherwise
But I've told it before. Basically, there was a reasonably bad explosion in the lab below.
Because the guy who set it up thought the house nitrogen supply was pressure regulated (it wasn't) so effectively superheated quite a lot of benzene under a large positive pressure of gas. When he opened the still tap, it exploded. Because he basicallymade a big bomb.
It shook the whole building. My fire escape went past one wall of that lab and even the stairwell was uncomfortably hot. The massive glass panels on the front of the lab were hanging off. All the glassware in the lab *next door* was shattered.
Two guys taken to hospital with burns. I think one needed skin grafts but they were both alright in the end.
one of our DCs was entirely destroyed. i was in kenya at the time though and worked for a different company
"Attention: a big fuck off jumbo jet has just crashed into our twin skyscraper across the way. Please return to your desks and resume working." September, 2001
Or that's the urban myth that people in the second tower were told to keep working and not evacuate anyway... bloody awful if true...
