Would you accept a job...
if your partner's Dad was going to be your boss?
I haven't actually got this job for definite yet, but I had the interview yesterday and it's looking pretty promising at the moment. It's a good job, a hell of a lot better than the one I'm doing now, but I'm concerned this could all go a bit Ben Stiller, ya get me?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
(Get up on your feet and stop making tired excuses? Or something else?)

The job title and description would dictate my answer
Please specify so that I may help you with your query.
Warm regards
It's a graduate position.
I'd be earning about 6 grand a year more than I get currently. It's not like a DREAM JOB or anything, but it'd be a pretty good one at this stage given I have no fucking idea what I wan't to do with my life and I currently work in a supermarket.
Probably
Depends what position I was in with my Partner (wheeeeeeey)
Being married is different to having dated for 6 months.
Wahey!
We've been going out for a 4 years now, so it's pretty long term. My worry isn't that I'm going to break up with the girlfriend at any point soon (although obviously shit like that can change pretty quickly,) more just that i'm going to make a massive tit out of myself.
would depend
if he was a massive bellend or not.
* had
Better than starting a new job
and *then* boning the bosses daughter
depends on the job
but yeah, i would have no problem with that
I'd have to have a long think about it
it could be a complete disaster
Probably not if I had any other options
But my judgment on this might be clouded by the fact that my ex's dad was so upset with me when I broke up with her that he threatened to phone my mother. I'm not sure what his plan was then.
I had a point when I started this post. Forgot it now.
NO FUCKING WAY AT ALL
You're already emasculated enough by him being the father of your partner. Don't make him be your boss too unless you wank to be the ultimate bitch.
this is really offensive
you're easily offended
tbf
right that's it
you're dumped
I dunno if wishpig is trolling me or not now
It seems everything I say is offensive somehow.
All I meant was in terms of powerplay, the father will hold all the cards. I'd rather spread my eggs is different baskets e.g. So if my work goes tits up it doesn't affect my relationship with my in-laws.
Fair enough? I'm really trying here.
if it helps to clarify things
i don't think she's really dumped you
wank to be the ultimate bitch
;'')
This seems like sound advice.
I'll text him now and tell him I don't wank to be the ultimate bitch.
Thanks all.
I don't know why I would apply for a job to be a lorry driver
Cos its cool.
You get to pound the rounds every day and eat Yorkies.
* murder prostitutes
this is really offensive
pound the roads*
I did work at my mate's uncle's greengrocers for a week when i was at uni
as a white van man. That was fun actually. I might speak to gf's dad this weekend
Take it do no work and everytime he complains say, "why don't you want your daughter to be happy!"
I dunno
I mean I would porbably keep thinking bad stuff.
"Hi Brad I don't think you did a good job on that opportunity the other day"
"Yea well, I fucked your daughter over a pool table"
I'd be thinking stuff like that
Such a Brad thing to do.
Classic Brad
My other worry is that (potential) new colleagues might be a bit weird about it, you know?
Do I tell them I'm dating the boss's daughter? At what stage in conversation does this come out? Say, hypothetically, (this won't actually happen) I get some kind of promotion or raise, because I've actually been working hard- people will probably think it's favouritism, no? Works in the reverse as well- it might affect his thinking, he won't want to reward me as it might look like favouritism, or something.
DiS is definitely the place for these queries to be answered.
Absolutely not under any circumstances
hope this helps
She doesn't work there, does she? No reason it should come up
Watch the mid-series of Only Fools And Horses and see how
Rodney got on.
