The Cheltenham Festival 2013 Thread
Last years winners of the big races...
Tue: Champion Hurdle
POS. HORSE SP AGE JOCKEY TRAINER
1 Rock On Ruby (IRE) 11/1 7 N Fehily P F Nicholls
Wednesday: Champion Chase
1 Finian's Rainbow (IRE) 4/1 9 B J Geraghty N J Henderson
Thursday: World Hurdle:
1 Big Buck's (FR) 5/6 9 R Walsh P F Nicholls
Friday: Gold Cup
1 Synchronised (IRE) 8/1 9 A P McCoy Jonjo O'Neill
Unfortunately two of them won't be at Prestbury Park this year, Synchronised (Rip) and Big Buck's out for the season.
Can't see Rock on Ruby retaining the champion hurdle, again Hurricane Fly is the fav but I've been enjoying Zarkander this year however Grandouet is going to get the better of Zarkander at some point. It would be great to see Khyber Kim in the frame at 75/1. Shame Darlan isn't here any longer either.
Wednesday is a non event, Sprinter Sacre the 4/11 fav everyone else running for place money.
Thursday without Big Bucks leaves someone else the chance to be remembered for winning the year without Big Bucks. The Ryanair looks wide open to me, I just can't be having Cue Card or First Lieutenant.
Friday's Gold Cup day and a day for being indoors, shame about Imperial Commander, leaving the big 4 in the betting Long Run impressive at Kempton but Captain Chris ran it close and I feel the course favours the latter and at 17/1 i'd rather be on him albeit RJ will probably fall off he's better than S W-C. Silviniaco Conti has always looked a GC horse and will be there or thereabouts. Though Bobs worth is a worthy favourite.
Last year's thread...can't believe i thought menorah would beat the sprinter.

HEADS UP:
Starting tomorrow, Coral are offering evens on Sprinter Sacre for all online bets. I don't know much about the horses, but apparently this is A LICENSE TO PRINT MONEY
well yeah this would be arb of the century if you could get plenty on at it's available to lay at 4/11 to lay for any amount
bets will be limited to £2 i reckon, or be taken down after 20mins.
Coral have limited it to £20, and said you've got a whole week to get on it
They've acknowledged they will probably lose millions
Strange? Helen Flanagan's Cheltenham workout video...

Balonz will probably call the winner just after it's cleared the final fence.
not that related but
did anyone catch the re-run of that documentary The Gambler last Saturday. Part 2 on tomorrow. Jonathan Rendall was at Cheltenham with £1k on a horse. Really great scene. Good doc from about 10 years ago. He recently died.

what channel was that on?
12:30am more4 tomorrow night
think it is the last episode of 3 parts
doesn't appear to be on 4od
Is on!!
I imagine it will be lovely there today.
I was just eavesdropping to a conversation between 2 colleagues.
Can't be sure of the facts, but according to what my colleague was saying, on any particular day gets 80k people in a 40k venue - all trying to buy bottles of champagne - wearing stupid hats, or pink Ted Baker shirts with massive fat striped ties and hairstyles where it's spikey at the back.
Fuck that.
That's Royal Ascot, mate.
Not going for the first time in a while this year
Quite sad to be missing out. Went on Gold Cup day last year, actually found Id preferred it on other days (indie points?)
As such, I havent followed the build up as much as I normally do. Saw the Coral Sprinter Sacre thing though. Printing money.
5 in a row, she should have took the boys on mind though not sure she'd have fared too well against Big Bucks
Well that was the easiest £20 anyone has ever made.
Nineteen lengths. Stunning.
had medinas, master of the sea and meister ekhart in that race
micro stakes stuff, so £40 won overall. My big bet (free bet) of 5 whole pounds is on saphir du rheu.....
oh yeah...i got my tips off here, btw

Coral haven't verified my account yet so stopping me getting my free money on Sprinter.

I follow GetYourTipsOut and Longshot_Ted on twitter
World Hurdle was definitely missing something today.
Rough day or two for the Jockeys, JT Mcnamara today unsure what the latest is on this one and Davy Russell what a hero suffered a punctured lung yesterday and still took two rides today before his lungs filled up with....well whatever a punctured lung fills up with.
Just landed a Our Conor/At Fisher/Bobs Worth treble
And PP were doing 5/1 on Bob's Worth
Pretty chuffed
Just taken £30 off betfair, £15 each off paddies and fred, and £40 to come once Coral sort their site
Put £15 in at the start.
Happy cheltenham!
John Jarvis, half owner of Bobsworth, is my Dads best friend.
