Yeah here is the daily Drownedinsound landlord problem for today. Our landlord and letting agency are both useless basically, we have two showers that leak, one shower leaks into the flat below us which means it is unusable and the other shower leaks into the close which is not an issue that effects anyone really so we still use that.
We've complained numerous times about this and nothing has happened, they claim to have a plumber coming on Monday but I will believe it when I see it. There was an issue with the toilet flush handle not working which we ended up having to fix ourselves having complained about it for weeks and the landlord came round yesterday because the shower head in the shower that does work was broken, he had a look at it and said he was going out to his Benz to get a part to fix it and drove off into the sunset in a car with massive bags full of our rent money.
Basically what are we in our rights to do here? Because right now I'm planning to not pay my rent when it's due and say that I pay for the maintenance of the flat too not just to live in it but I think that may be getting into a sticky legal situation.
I was also thinking of emailing the agency and saying if he doesn't want to maintain the flat then I want to reduce my monthly rent for the last 3 months by 50 pounds or something, is that a viable option?
