have you ever used a well
scared of the long black-haired girl
NOT deleted. that means it is approved by theo
but you never know. maybe someone will have a story about actually building a well. that could keep it going for a bit
i have no idea how it happened though
I've also [redacted]
what an interesting question. No I haven't.
anywhere. they seem like a work of fiction. like the name wendy
I used to call her "Wendy House".
Pretty funny for a 12 year old.
so you should probably start suspecting that somebody has used a well instead
i just can't imagine it
loads of that is about digging and making wells.
and my manager is called wendy.
they are things.
but for ages it was just a made up
If you're looking for the ol' rope and bucket approach, I'm afraid I can't help.
a pump, a well, is not
but it draws water from a well. Hence: I have used a well.
rather than the thing with the rope and bucket?
the well is the shaft (steady)
but ok, i'll give it you. thewarn (claims) he's used a well everyone!
near a bothy in kielder forest
i have also been down one
I also do well dressing (although its been a while since Ive done that for an actual well like you mean) I do it for springs though.
Tissington is a particularly nice well dressing although that is kind of traditional and organised
i mean the little thing with water
whereby you dress the well to be pretty with tokens that are meant to symbolise your appreciation of the source of good clean water.
Originally sweet scented flowers/ purifying herbs might have just been laid at springs/sources of rivers
You can do it with jewelry(not lead) ribbons, a lock of your hair a pretty stone that means something.
You can leave them at a waterfall as it kind of represents a new chapter in a water course .
After medieval plagues the prectice became more formalised in areas of britain, such as the peak district, where they might do it on a christian date.
Personally I like to do some on Imbolc, (christianity has named this day of the year to be brides/st bridgets day/candlemass)
Tissington is done on the christian ascension day.
Easter dates are an excellant time for it (Imbolc is a bit too early for the flowers) or you can do it on the spring equinox.
Or something like that.
Wells and springs ARE sacred and this is not mumbo jumbo, they mean a lot to all humans (even if they dont know it.....their ancestors depended on it)
Anyone defiling one is a sociopath and should be exterminated
you smely nice
A desert well that we used was amazing......no clue as to where it was, apart from the camels.....brushed away the sand and then a wooden cover to be removed....lovely water.
My uncle lowered me down his well.
I was not particularly happy about it
he spent it going on adventures in middle eastern countries and whatnot. He did exactly what you did in a Biggles story I read a couple years ago.
That actually sounds kind of horrifying, what if the rope snapped? How deep was the well?
uncovered it, it was great though, you would never have known it was there.
the one I went down was my uncles....it was about 20 foot. with water (The water it was was lovely and cold on hot days.....he used to keep bottles of squash down there in the bucket.
but I found a picture of the fireplace of the chimney that I went up (its changed a lot since then
which is why I asked you
Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. Please search for List of Drowned in Sound users who have used a well in Wikipedia to check for alternative titles or spellings.
If that counts?
what does 'ex' mean?
Digging it back up when it has been filled in over the preceeding centuries. It was at a place called black heath near bath and you could see (one of the fake) white giants from the dig site
There is also a lovely well on top of tintagel rock......it has rocks in it it is round but has rocks in it, but still has clean water......even though it is virtually surrounded by sea and is high high up so how does the water bubble up? (*rhetorical....its magic of course)
On special days when the tide is particularly high (equinoxes and full/new moons) then the water in the well rises and overspills and really does do something magical then
and this girl from across the street who had mad issues closed the top and locked me in, so i stayed down there for a week thinking about my problems, and then i had some weird experience where i stepped through the wall of the well and went into this hotel where i confronted this guy but chickened out and stepped back through the wall back into the well and then it was open and when i came out i had a big blue mark on my face that didn't go away for ages.
There's a natural spring outside my mates house. People drive for miles to stock up on it. It really does taste fantastic
it doesn't have a flavour
can you taste salt? That's a mineral
for someone called cat_race you're barking
where in the country do you live?
picking up minerals along the way. You can taste minerals
The salt was making a point
like that game, animal, vegetable and mineral. everything is one of the three. are there animals in water? maybe. in mud a mineral or a vegetable? it's a different type of mineral that you mean i think
but i'll just assume it's because the water comes from different parts of the country
I've been as guilty as anyone else
