agree totally. fine, couple of cool bits. bloke out of breaking bad turning up in everything shocker continues. hot babe. feel like i'm watching lost in translation
Thought it was really slow to get started but I guess that made the violence more shocking when it kicked in. It felt like it wasn't sure what it wanted to be though, like a cross between Taxi Driver and Death Proof
I've seen and been disappointed by too many films that are meant to have a juggernaut of meaning behind them. Give me pretty and hollow anyday and I'll read a book if I want something more.
same re. soundtrack
I like the soundtrack
lots of people appear to, I remember seeing lots of sad faces who couldn't get in the venue when College played the Great Escape.
I wasn't a sad face, I was a drunk one
like, it's fine
i'm not saying it's bad. it's just fine.
TBF I only had one throbber at the time
Speaking of the soundtrack, it has 19 songs
I only really listen to about 4 of them. Is anyone really thinking of the Cliff Martinez tracks when praising it?
what's a double throbber?
You know your chub?
that x 2
throbbing
It's empty, vacuous bullshit
Hated that film
sweet
i thought it was pretty much universally loved for some batshit reason that i couldn't understand.
It's good but you can tell it's not great and that there's something missing
bit like Nandos
how come so many people were melting over it?
or have i misread it completely? and people weren't?
I found it quite hypnotic and dream-like.
always get double throbbers for those kind of films.
Yeah? Well I'd like to see YOU make a film.
i hope the next time you go through a double door you try to open the one that is still locked
:D
thanks for your observations
no problem
Agreeing with cat_race shocker
Drive is an exercise in style over substance - some great sequences, top soundtrack. Dull characterisation and plot
been a while since i cared less about a protagonist
agree totally. fine, couple of cool bits. bloke out of breaking bad turning up in everything shocker continues. hot babe. feel like i'm watching lost in translation
But in Drive, style *is* substance
As with many other similar films. If you still wanna separate the two, then why should a film be substance over style and not the other way round?
glad you decided to start a thread about it
the boards are really lacking discussion about this film
i don't check
I watched it last night actually
Thought it was really slow to get started but I guess that made the violence more shocking when it kicked in. It felt like it wasn't sure what it wanted to be though, like a cross between Taxi Driver and Death Proof
This isn't C_R brand inverted trolling this is regular trolling trolling. I'm oot.
there is no trolling in this thread from me
I can't be sure. So you get no response from me.
you're so on edge
Stop softening me up.
its better than you
you changed your tune
first you thanked me for my observation and now you're being mean.
fix
fx
fix
what year is this?
now? 2013
thnx hun
inbox me
i don't even have you on faceyb :(
I've made two attempts to watch this
Just can't get into it at all.
It gets good after the boring bit
the boring bit being the end credits
x
I love Drive so fucking much
Huh, was just testing the autofill
Surprised it wasn't there
I like the term double throbber
i'm glad
that's what this thread is about (non-sarcastic)
follow-up query:
is it pulsing twice as fast? or twice as large?
it doubles back on itself
first a throb outwards, then a throb back
can't see it sorry
i'm trying to think of something with a similar motion
you know in cartoons when there is a fire hose and the hose has like bulbous bits travelling down it where the water is supposed to be?
like that, but then back again. and sort of unfolding at the end
I like Drive purely because it is style over substance
I've seen and been disappointed by too many films that are meant to have a juggernaut of meaning behind them. Give me pretty and hollow anyday and I'll read a book if I want something more.
that's not a terrible attitude at all
drive stil sux tho lol
PERL RONMAN
i think i've said this before
but when they cut to that sudden closeup of his face in the cinema I almost fell off me chair
such a huge face
It's fucking ace
Most people like shit films. They need to get better taste and stop watchign fucking super hero films.
A MAN DRESSED AS A BAT FOR FUCK SAKE.
I haven't see many people work up a double throbber over it.
Just lots of people agreeing that it was a very good film, which it is. Thanks, pal.
