Where do you stand on it? Say something there and then?
Make a complaint?
As such I've completely ignored it both times. Yes, I am a monster.
obviously racism is racism and it's all horrendous and there is no scale - but that's just blunt out and out racism.
Just old and stupid.
It's an odd situation - A person phoned up called 'Chin Yi' and the phone person said 'I've got a chinky on the phone' and then like corrected herself, but not really, and found it a bit funny.
I genuinely couldn't work out if it was a subconscious or genuine slip of the tongue (although her reaction wasn't great) as saying 'I have a *name* on the phone' is common practice.
i don't think i would report someone for that if it was completely a one-off incident. although it is racist it seems as much a play on her name as something malicious.
You might get away with that thought out in the less populous parts of the country but not in London. I don't think here there's any excuse for not knowing the term 'chinky' is bang out of order.
what a life
My comment is only to be considered seriously if you consider Jordan's seriously.
(But, y'know, 'chinky' is a term I only ever heard bandied around in Manchester by country boys up for Uni, for what it's worth.)
I dont like it but he is white so not really sure I can report him.
She's incredibly smart, creative and lateral-thinking. She's also tiny (maybe about 5'3"), very friendly, and gorgeous. Not many people have commented on her obvious abilities, probably because it's frighteningly clear that she can do most people's jobs around here better than they can. But it's amazing how many people have said OMG she's like a little Chinese doll, she's so cute, she's so polite, Hello Kitty etc etc.
if you don't - complaint to line manager (or whoever is appropriate at your work)
happens too regularly with the general public and it's people who will never change. lots of 'im not racist but' type stuff
Someone I like: 'don't say shit like that in front of me, please'
Someone I don't: *withering look, heavy sigh, headphones back in*
where do you work??
