What kind of mop do you have?
Picked up a new mop whilst at Sainsbury's buying some soup.
The head is like this:

and you just roll down a bit on the stick to squeejy (sp?) the water. NO NEED FOR A BUCKET. Its fantastic.

I had one of those. Lasted about 6 months.
Good luck
What did you do to it?
I had the old style Magic Mop but I put boiling water on it at the weekend and it melted all the glue away and the moppy bit fell off so had to bin it.
Dunno, sorry
one of these
http://www.swiffer.com/
though it rarely gets used
in fact the only times i've used it have been after parties :/
Swiffer is brand name?
I just thought it was a daft thing my girlfriend said. I owe her an apology.
That. Is not a mop.
Vileda mops tend to be terrible.
We don't have a mop - we just use those floor wipe things. Pretty effective.
like plasticniki's Swiffer?
do you use water? I'm dubious if really hot water and bleach isn't involved.
Nah - these

Down on hands and knees, wiping the floors until they're clean. Much better if you can be bothered. If you live in a tiny flat you don't really need a mop and bucket to get it done...
is that not just a sponge on a stick?
speaking of which - why do fans of the band [spunge] go for the white man blonde mop style dreads?
It is a sponge on a stick
but what is a mop other than just a spongey thing on a stick?
proper scratty white dreadlocks
on a stick
AT FUCKING LAST
Mop that you can do sheepdog and or frosty dreads gags with
^ this.
it's fucking filthy tho. i tend to use a floor wipe. cheers.
*A* floor wipe?
Please tell me you replace it after a certain time.
i.e. a pack of wipes.
after 1 swipe those bad boys are in the bin.
See I was gonna go for the shaggy dog mop
however, you then need the bucket and the squeejy bit on the bucket. That takes up a lot of space and I don't fancy hand wringing a mop.
"shaggy dog mop" :D
I cannot use one of these after having to clean the Isle of Wight's Cineworld floor with the most filthy, stinky shaggy dog mop you have ever seen. It was fucking rancid.
I just do gags with it
They're the best mops to use by a MILE though.
Vileda supermops and that just move dirt around - the old fashioned ones actually get rid of it.
I'd imagine theres more bacteria in those kinds of mops though?
More bacteria?
Not sure what you're on about there, if you use a bleach based cleaner and make sure to ring them out properly etc. If you don't take care of them then, sure, they'd be full of bacteria but that goes for everything.
Dunno, the previous tenant left it behind
It's alright. Pretty standard.
Great contribution.
Steam mop
Don't have any carpet in my place so this has pretty much made hoovering redundant...
stealth mop

I've a vileda mop for laminate flooring. A steam mop seems
like decadence. I'll look into it. You only live once.
just a mop
really
You know when mops get all hair in them?
I don't like that.
I bought my friend a mop when she moved house. She loved it.
Saw the 'Best threads in February' thread
Went for the jugular
Yeah we've got that one.
It's okay.
You have?
I'm throwing it away.
I've never used our mop.
I just live in squalor.
In between cleaner visits, I actually do what meths does- cloths, hand and knees, much easier it seems.
I also sometimes have nice houseguests who will clean for me, which is always very much appreciated.
lazy twat
getting on my hands and knees to scrub is defintetly what lazy people do
(not denying I'm a lazy tawt, right enough. Just not in relatoin to this.)
only kiddin. I'm forever mopping. Usually, just as I finish, the cat
walks in covered in mud/shit. I dunno why I bother.
Sounds like too much hard work
I have a lot of wood flooring :(
I had missed the bit about there being no need for a bucket.
It's the bucket that puts me off using our mop! (that and the fact that it looks a bit ratty.) I'm going to have a look at yours!
we used to have the worst mop at uni, like just a lump on the end of a stick
it made the place dirtier but no one could be arsed to buy a new one.
it was like cleaning with a stick with a lump of blue tac on the end.
to be honest, that probably would've done a better job.
I have one of those pump action foam things.
I bet you do
it's massive. in fact I can barely get both hands around it.
