last evening i assembled a desk while my father stood on and watched. he made a brew. he kept the screws in order.
tables have turned. taking no shit on here/in real life any more.
i use it for listings quite often.
it was about politics. both of us get a bit over the top about politics. just felt i was being shouted at for no reason and that he'd dropped the whole reasonable persona and shown his true unnecessarily mean colours.
sorry i'll log off now
This is being an astonishingly immature child.
And kicking off at a stranger on the internet to call them an ungrateful shite isn't.
I was reacting to being kicked at, with little to no provocation.
take it back to wherever it started!!
HE WAS BEING MEAN TOO. MUUUUUUM.
He's not in here trying to bump this up to something involving anyone else. Grow up, or fuck off. Actually and* fuck off.
I know he's your mate, but stand back and take a look at what actually happened. I made a jokey post pretending not to understand something, and got called a 'twat'. It was also implied that I'm doing my family a disservice by, er, holding a point of view, and that I'm spoiled and ungrateful. Those are ignorant, unpleasant things to suggest to someone you don't know. My family get by on very little and I help wherever I can. Seldom been more pissed off by a stranger.
Also you'll note I went and pulled him up on that while you were typing this.
You're still someone endlessly point proving on an internet forum, you still have a long history of being inflammatory and oblivious to opinions other than your own and you're still incredibly condescending for someone who's barely lived a life yet (although this could be levelled at anyone but no, fuck it, especially you on here.)
If you say you're not taking shit anymore, consider that maybe a better route is to stop deliberately encouraging shit and then claiming you don't understand why. I'm not saying further than this because fuck me life is too short.
if you or royter or meths had posted the original free healthcare stuff it would have got smiley faces.
anyway, i've apologised now in the thread, no need for language like that from me really. end.
to just that one thread, please?
for that non-argument.
maybe some day I can experience Nirvana too :)
seems reasonable to me. good effort though eric
and you're doing the dad jobs, not having a go, just saying that kinda thing is tinged w/ a hint of sadness yanno?
it's the way these things go. my parent's other son (my brother) is useless. power had to shift to me at some point
when i'd bought my first one my dad had helped me out picking it, but this time i bought mine, and then helped him buy his. boom.
the best thing about last night was that my dad was talking to my mum the whole time saying 'it's good practice for him this'. haha. i changed a plug afterwards. salt in the wound.
Recently I've noticed that my dad isn't invulnerable after all.
He's got diabeetus up to his eyebags and his kidneys are away to pot and he's forgetting everything. He was talking about using his new bus pass to go into town to buy a record, but he didn't know what bus to get and had to check the number with me three times.
My dad took up jogging a few years ago, so I went out for a non-competitive run with him. I won HANDS DOWN (he pulled a muscle and fell over after about 3 minutes).
It was... odd.
in oxford last weekend the gf's parents came to visit. they slept on the futon. we didn't surrender the bed.
my dad is now the one showing ID to get a discount. (He still insists on paying when we go though, so I'm not that grown-up!)
Now I take my Dad to gigs
