if you've ever had to get the 202, you'll know exactly what i'm on about. fucking joke.
Still awful, but it was even worse when it was a bendy bus.
So I have found memories
I still have bad memories of that one from 12 years back when I lived in Wood Green.
The half hour it took to get out of Trafalgar Sq and inch up the road towards Oxford Circus. But you had to get on at Trafalgar Sq because it would be full by the time it got to Charing Cross Rd. Even worse was this was before Oyster cards, so everyone paid cash. The endless queue of drunk teens slowly slowly buying tickets. And then the endless trek home.
God the flashbacks. This must be what it's like for 'Nam veterans. The horror, the horror.
Overcrowdedness, huge risk of being stabbed, loads of racists, etc, etc.
I often get stabbed by crowds of racists on the bus but you just have to be the bigger person really.
Guess its just the price you pay for getting to live in the greatest city on Earth.
Visited recently. Absolute dive.
does this mental hail and ride thing that no-one gets on/off at and puts an extra ~15 minutes on the journey.
the 243 gets an honourable mention as well, for promising to take you from Old Street to Wood Green but doing so via the a completely indirect route via outer Tottenham.
fondly do I recall the times I've waited at Blackheath for a bus to Lee, only to watch a 108, an 89 and a couple of 54s scoot by first
Worst service on a bus in London, by far, is the 170. My god.
not even a contest. overcrowded, irregular and thoroughly unpleasant. hate it.
honourable mentions: 12 when it was a bendy bus, 285 and 117
