Six Nations Weekend #3 thread
A solid performance from Wales saw them comfortably beat the Italians earlier, in a game that was largely notable for having a substitute commentator. Did you know that George North was born in Kings Lynn?
England v France is coming up imminently; hopefully France will turn up today.
Scotland and Ireland play tomorrow.
Anything else?

Fofana in the centres where he should be, great
Looks like Farrell's pulled something.
Bit of a blow for England if he's out for a bit.
WALES WON WALES WON WALES WON WALES WON WALES
A bit disappointed with how this game's ending.
France looked strong early on, but their replacements have been completely counter-productive.
Credit to England, though. Another good performance by them.
England are pretty great, aren't they.
Yeah.
On current form
I'd have to agree with you.
Says Michel Embareck:
" We love them for having invented rugby, but besides that there exists no other reason to... but to hate them on the other hand: because they play in white in order to always come across as innocent, because they confuse stamping and rucking, because the beer they offer us after the match is always disgusting, because they force the away team to celebrate one of their bloody princesses, because if we didn't hate them we would be the only ones in the world of rugby to love them.»
Not like a Frenchman to be up his own arse.
also that stuff about stamping & rucking
is a bit rich
has he never been to a game in france?
michelak [sp] is turd
Surely France have better 10s than him.
I thought England played a good, conservative first half and that the second half was decide by fitness and squad depth. Really enjoyable game.
& yet he was motm in all three autumn internationals for them
England caused a lot of their own problems
Too many missed tackles from trying to smash the man rather than just put him on the floor, Farrell not being replaced for far too long after his injury became apparent, poor kick chase and Chris Ashton.
The French pack was always going to run out of steam though, and their bench is a big drop off in quality. Got to be amused by Michalak gouging his own openside too.
Our try was a bit of a travesty. Would have been massively annoyed if it had been allowed the other way.
ours
wasnt the only dodgy try, or thing to have been missed this weekend & yet none of the others are commented on as much
wales's try that had the blatent obstruction for example even had an animation in the studio where they moved the player past the welsh guy blockin ghim saying the italian was out of position & not one mention of the blocking
still, refs decision is final
yassssssss
aw shit i havent missed this many six nations games in years
and my team are having the results of a decade.
Well in Scotland
Anyone spotted the BBC report
For Scotland vs Ireland yet? Take a look at the reporters by-line. Surely this isn't for real?

Genuinely no idea which bit of that you're questioning.
not think he might have had a hard time at school?
You mean Ben Dirs' name?
Have you really not been on the BBC Sports page since 2006?
Apparently not
It's not like the BBC is reknowned for its coverage of Scottish fitba's diddy leagues, or ice hockey so it isn't something I look at very much, short of the 6 Nations.
I presume he covers a lot of club rugby or English fitba?
Dunno what he does most of, but he's a constant presence on the rugby and cricket side of things which is all I look at on there
It is a name that sounds like a piss-take though, yeah.
I think his criticism of Scotland's first half performance is a bit unwarranted, to be fair.
I don't remember seeing many of their players make any mistakes - it was a terrific defensive display, combined with a lack of invention from the Irish.
looking forward to scotland v wales
it will be a locse one that's for sure
Agree mostly, but I wouldn't say the Irish showed any lack of invention.
Lack of execution, on the other hand...
Definitely lack of execution, especially when it came to line-outs in the Scottish 22,
But they looked bereft of genuine ideas when faced with the Scottish defence and didn't have the gumption to change their strategy.
I guess that's true - and more so in the second half (I was only really talking about the first)
That first Irish surge (I think it was Marshall's first break?) where they swept up to the line and then just froze at the breakdown and didn't move it for about a minute was just shocking. Dunno whether that counts as lack of invention or execution or just the basic decision-making ability that should be a minimum requirement to play rugby at this (or, really, any professional) level.
It's pretty much exactly what Scotland have been doing for the past few years
71% possession, oh Declan...
Another encouraging performance from England, though the timing of that Tuilagi try couldn't have been harder on France, coming just as they were reshuffling to try and see out the game.
SCOTLAND FFS.
:D
Incredible result for Scotland
Don't understand all the disbelief and the "HOW!?" after the game, with the defensive effort we put in I think we deserved the win. Maybe it's just a bit of bias. I know there was a fair bit of luck involved, had Ireland had Zebo, D'Arcy and Sexton in particular then the game would have been out of sight but they can't go on if's and but's, they had plenty of chances and didn't take them. Thought Kidney was right to play Jackson, O'Gara's is a bombscare! Anyway, after the last few seasons, it's great to see us doing well. So much for all those who were saying Robinson was unfairly dismissed because he had no good players to work with. Hope Johnson stays, can't see it though.
Can't see past England for the Grand Slam. As a Scotsman it pains me to say it, but they were excellent in the first two games. Thought they were lucky against France but again, that's maybe me being a bit biassed. Don't quite agree with Embareck but you know we all love to see you lose, right?
Right, what was the Parra thing all about? I mean, I know Farrel gave him a shoulder to the chops and that's not right, but clutching your face and rolling about the ground, what the fuck was that!? I expect that nonsense from nancy footballers, not from a rugby player.
The thing is, winning a match with about 20% possession isn't even that unusual.
It's basically what South Africa did in every match they played from about 2005-2010.
Not sure I agree D'Arcy would've helped - in fact, I'm quite sure I don't. Those two breaks from Luke Marshall in the first half should really seal the much-belated end of D'Arcy's career. Sexton's absence was obviously the clincher though, sure.
True.
Every time the lad Marshall got a hold of the ball it put the fear in me. Be good to see how his career progresses, looks like an exciting player.

i am now very happy you got rid of robinson
