I want to talk about how amazing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is. Shitty title aside.
Is it better than Bayonetta?
I think it advances the gameplay found in Bayonetta, and the DmC reboot, fairly well... the cut-anything Blade Mode is juuuuust amaaaaazing. It's super smooth, a lot of fun. Not as complex in terms of combo possibilities as Bayonetta, but TBF I only ever mixed up about five or six attacks throughout that game. I need to get further into it before forming concrete opinions obviously, but so far... yeah... it's gonna be a standout action game of 2013. It's got very few gameplay parallels with previous MG titles tho... so far... Dunno if that will put people off. There's no stealth as such, yet.
I'm interested to have a go at it. Started to like weird cyborg Raiden by the end of MGS4.
Story wise it's all part of that bigger picture.
Is it all QTE's, or have they come up with something better than that?
You hold LT (on a 360), and position the cut with the right stick. Release/centralise the right stick and the slice is made - it's amazing what you can cut. Tree in front of you? Cut it down. Car? Cut it in half. Fence? Slice right through that. Works a treat when chopping off limbs and that, too.
I'm slightly concerned about how end-game gear is going to work for someone like me who doesn't play (relatively) very much, but it's really impressive for a free to play game.
Not going to bother with Torchlight 2 now.
but its going to be 15 in a month like all the amazing platinum games are so am going to wait it out
not keen on the MGS world but the demo was so much fun and it has that crazy japanese feel that is missing in games thesedays
plus its nice and short and full of action! sucks when you spend the hour of gaming time you have just traipsing to some objectives or doing some fetch quests
I can only assume that because it's so wrong each time I've read it I've just mentally autocorrected it to something that makes sense
Played a fair few levels of Donkey Kong Country Returns and already finding the dificulty level has vamped up markedly and I'm only just finishing World 2.
It looks lovely though and I'm a bit in love with how much detail every single frame has going on.
Still struggling to get to grip with having to shake the controls to ground pound a bit though and I also find Kong's heavier inertia compared to Rayman and Mario to be a bit odd, having played so much of those two.
But yeah, it's pretty wicked.
I'm definitely on the 7th World. Can't remember if it's the boss level I'm stuck on or not. I hate to think the hours I've tried to get past it, and now you've reminded me of it I'm gonna have to start it up again this evening.
One of the most frustrating things is that after 8 attempts at a level, you can actually skip it. I've OBVIOUSLY never done it, but the temptation is so, so high.
Do you play with 2 players or just the one?
I suspect I'll never get that far as I suck at 2D platform games.
Play solo sadly, is 2 player good?
you just get Diddy Kong as a helper buddy. It's okay in so much as someone else can join in the fun but then when you come across the BASTARD HARD bits they jut end up being a hindrance.
Oh man I need to go home and play it right now.
I think this might be the game that actually convinces me to get a Next Gen console.
Last Guardian likely would have done had it come out. Uncharted & LBPlanet *nearly* did. Tomb Raider and Last of Us still might. But this, man... stuff of pure dreams:
Wonder how it'll work being on so many different platforms? All videos so far have been from top end PC versions.
If it delivers 1/2 of what it promises though it'll be amazing.
Lorks, I hope so.
It's just that I still think of PS3 and Xbox360 as Next Gen...
I remember having to stress the importance of owning a Dual Shock controller to my parents so that I could play Ape Escape
IN AMAZING EYE POPPING 3D!
now you have to fork out for DLC. BROKEN BRITAIN
I hate DLC that adds little to nothing to the game though
and the textures muddier and the population more sparse. So it'll probably feel empty and less like the living world that the PS4/High End PC version would be.
will allow me to use it as a controller for games. Gonna download me some ROMs of PS1 / Mega Drive classics.
I might actually do this myself. Hard to find an OTG cable though.
http://www.desura.com/games/pixelry it's fun.
I love 1up...
but there's been a lot of layoffs too. Real shame.
and Rock Paper Shotgun raised the bar.
