Never heard of him til 9 o'clock last night. Does this mean I'm cool? Or old?
in a "i don't like music" way.
I mean we don't have the national toothpaste awards on every fucking news outlet do we?
had a couple of alright songs which quickly got a bit advert-centric.
he's no Jake Bugg, that's for sure.
Ed Sheeran rose to prominence through YouTube videos and a massive, organic public following leading to something of a bidding war between the majors to sign him.
Ben Howard, on the other hand, was pretty much unheard of until he got signed, and still relatively under the radar until last night when the industry gave him one final shunt into the public's consciousness by giving him two BRIT awards. Not sure why everyone's so determined to turn him into a star despite the public's lukewarm reception to his material - oh wait, maybe it's because David Joseph is chairman of the BRITS committee as well as Chariman and CEO of Universal Music UK. *MOR conspiracy*
saw about 10 minutes of it last night and saw Timberlake and Taylor Swift who were both a bit rubbish. It seems so much poorer compared to when I used to watch it but I guess that's just me being older now. I turned over to watch the Hairy Bikers.
The Strokes, Mystique and So Solid all performed. Them were't days.
It was awful.
That's twice now I've seen her singing along to someone else's song when they're performing at an awards ceremony. It's a bit of a calculated look at me thing.
(She may just like the songs and have no self-awareness, but it seems unlikely)

I barely know who he is, and I saw him live at the Mercury Prize.
The things that really made me feel old were the sponsor bits around the ads, where the teenagers were refilming the videos of some popstars. One kid was like 'I'm going to be Conor Maynard for the day!' and I was like, I have so little idea of who that is, you are currently more famous to me because at least I've seen you on TV for five second.
and this guy was busking and singing this song/. i know it's a proper famous song because i've heard it and he was singing in this falsetto and that's how the song goes and it's no good at all. famous music has gone bad
which is a bit, err, well. At least he'll be better than Animal Collective were?
I think I just don't know who is who these days.
but I have no fucking clue who this guy is
I knew none of the songs and not that many people. But there is one constant - Robbie Williams is the worst.
with music designed to be on adverts with sunshine and lens flare.
the whole event was full of acts i hadn't realised had done anything last year and people i'd never heard of
I think that's what makes it.
It's literally the best recording of folk I've heard - Probably.
