he's a weird one. Chasing Amy, Mallrats and Clerks are all old faves of mine,
then he released a TON of shit, and then he did that Waco inspired thing which I thought was thoroughly watchable, I really enjoyed it. I can't imagine that Clerks III would be much cop though, the second wasn't great.

I remember really liking the Clerks cartoon
making the second episode a flashback filled bottle episode was pretty funny as I remember it.
Last time I saw it I was much younger and much more stoned than I am now though..
I like that after finally clawing some respect back with Red State
his first instinct is to make Clerks III. I guess Cop Out II wasn't an option..

jay & silent bob was a comic story before it was a film, he's well into his comics, why not have it as a book first?
its not about it being a book
its about it being influenced by fan feedback as he releases a chapter at a time.
nothing against episodic releases either but to have the story consciously influenced by fans demands?

I like how he says weed hasn't affected his productivity at all and shit but now he spends most of his time in his pants making podcasts and shit instead of making films. And shit.

I think making a string of terrible films that were savaged by critics probably hurt his productivity as much as being baked did.
Maybe he shouldn't have made so many shit films
I mean, it's like blaming the critics for not liking White Lies.
I think the reason those films were so shit
is that from Jay & SB onwards he's been both self-indulgent and pandered to the most awful weed smoking pant sitting contingent of his fanbase. The films ended up being filled with injokes that alienate casual viewers and puerile stoner humour at the expense of things like a plot or characters or the well crafted little observations which were sprinkled amongst the toilet jokes in his earlier work.
and now he's possibly asking those same people to help him choose the direction for his next work?
