your laptop/computer
if someone were to ask you to use it quickly, without you having the opportunity to erase/tamper with recent viewing history/contents, how uncomfortable on a scale of 1-10 would this make you?

broswers automatically delete that stuff h
* when closed, don't they?
depends on what you have your settings on
but aye you can do this
I'd be 8/10 uncomfortable even though I've nothing to hide
I mean, bit of porn in the history, but that's natural. Just don't like the thought of someone going on my laptop.
same
doubt anyone will be scrollin across hhistory either really. anyone can use it
My internet history is really boring, so I'm not fussed about that
I'd be more scared about whoever it was finding my nudie pictures.
10
i have multiple pictures of piss stained sheets opened
:D
i'd more embarassed about dis usage than porn
Virgin Broadband installation guy a couple of weeks ago
Him: "Hmmm, signal's a bit weak...might need to adjust your settings - mind if I quickly use your laptop to log on to our site?"
Me: "Yeah sure"
Me internally: "WHY THE FUCK COULDN'T I HAVE GONE WITH TALKTALK?!"

mainly because my computer was an investment of sorts, an investment which has been used for games primarily, and I'd mostly worried that whoever was using it would damage it in some way. And find my porn
my laptop
anyone can use, couldnt give a fuck. my desktop music making machine.. they need permission by me to use, once im ok with them its fine, but its generally locked away.
my ipad, I barely use.. and its most often not charged up, but anyone can use.
terrified
i got hella pornos up in here

Nothing questionable saved on the hard drive (why bother?), switch to incognito mode for any site I'd be uncomfortable with anyone seeing in my history.
^ This
Other approaches baffle me.
Are you all still on dial-up?
is 1 the most comfortable or is 10 the most comfortable?
funny how every single other person ITT could work that out eh?
funny how?
funny in the way that only constant faux naivety can be i guess
1 or 10 funny tho?
<3
you did this in the other thread too
are you actually very special?
see look at this
a good solid yes/no question
8/10
go incognito a lot thesedays but still, i dont like people going on it, i have odd tastes
same with putting my phone in someone elses hand, makes me itchy
I think my girlfriend uses my laptop more than me (god knows why she can't use her own, she had a MacBook for Christ's sake),
so not at all worried. Any, very occasional, grot viewing, is done on Incognito. Which I've always assumed is fool proof.
good use of "grot"
:D
I thought you didn't watch porn?
I don't very often - can't remember the last time I did.
Maybe you're confusing me with mickey_w? He made a big deal about not watching it because it poisoned his poetic soul or something.
<3 Michael.
I'm pretty sure you also said you never watched it
and everyone was like BULLSHIT.
I can't find the thread though and I'm not typing porn into google on my work laptop.
I don't remember ever saying that.
And if I did, I'm afraid I was lying.
^ Using porn
as he types that.
0/10 with regards to them seeing what I've got on there or what I've been looking at
5/10 for the concern that they'll mess something up somehow
I had a meeting last week and I had to find a document to show the guy
but he was peering over my shoulder whilst I was looking for it and I'm pretty sure he saw some photos he shouldn't have, that recent file history bit on the mac and showing files as thumbnails not as a list combined to make things massively awkward.
you can change that to make it show them as a list you knoe
*know
you filth merchant
I know but I like it as thumbnails
I just don't like the recent items bit showing up WHEN I AM IN A MEETING
0/10
I don't own a laptop.

I have very little on the computer that is dodgy, apart from a few photos of me barely dressed in iPhoto, but they're pretty hard to find amonsgst the 5000 photos there.
People who only watch porn from the streaming sites:
you might as well not even watch it. seriously grim stuff up there. and it's become just advertising for stuff on the pay sites. the quality is so low. its like buying a tv and only watching the home shopping channel.
indie up your porn tastes motherfuckers - get into some retro shit or try looking for amateur stuff that no one has heard of. you'll find it very rewarding.
I have taken like a thousand pictures of myself pulling faces on the webcam on this laptop.
I'm more embarrassed of those than I could ever be of a bit of porn or naked pictures or my excessive dis use.
fine.
browser is set to delete everything when it closes, and the minimal amount of fruity stuff on the hard drive is sufficiently obfuscated.
isn't it really annoying to have to type it full addresses and fill in forms from scratch every time
nah.
when stuff like that is pre-populated like that it makes me feel uneasy.

i like a fresh slate. and i like my computer to be like a tool, not something that's trying to be my friend.
you're a bit mental
but that's okay
Turning the question round:
f you have to use someone else's laptop do you get stuck straight in to their internet history?
uh huh
my mum knew this old couple (in their 80s) who were an old fashioned, war vet type couple
the woman died, and the man decided to buy a PC. some time later he asked me to see if i could fix the computer because it was "acting up"
i wasn't looking for anything....but...let's just say he had a strong desire to see teenage boys fucking each other. the computer was riddled with it. made me wonder if his whole life was a lie. he died soon after.
good story.
computers are like our diaries now.
What if I've accidentally left myself still logged in on my porn tumblr?
0/10 - it's a shared laptop between me and mrs ccb, plus the little'un uses it
so it's pretty clean.
however, i've definitely had to borrow other people's computers / laptops and they've been like "oh just one second, i need to..." and they've blatantly been deleting their browsing history.
i'd never go snooping around in someone's hard drive. that's poor form.
