looper
About 40 mins in. Had to take a call.
So far so good. Like JGL's BW impression.
Bruce Willis does 1 good/awesome film to every 3 or 4 terrible films.
Anyway will check in later because i know how valued my opinion is.

I look forward to your opinion
Mine is as follows (WITH POSSIBLE SPOILERS): first hour or so great, JGL looks a lot like Bruce, second half(ish) a bit boring, don't think there's any chemistry b/w JGL & lady, obviously numerous holes in logic but maybe that isn't a problem because the film points them out as a kind of joke, nowhere near as good as Brick.
What holes in the logic?
Is that a serious question?
yes
Why did the kid still have an injured cheek at the end?
I don't know
it's been too long since I saw it. What was it about his having an injured cheek that made it a hole in the logic?
**spoiler alert**
Because Bruce Willis never would have existed to shoot him in the fucking face.
Bruce Willis didn't shoot him in the face
The guy that came to search his house did
What?
I forget the characters name
But the kid injured his cheek after a guy who came to search the house for young Joe saw him run down the stairs no? It sparked his first big TK moment and the guy exploded which made young Joe realise that he was going to become the rainmaker
No, Bruce Willis shot him in the face in the field
Then the kid went nuts until mummy calmed him down.
I swear the kid gets his cheek injured in that scene
I dunno then, if he got shot in the field it still happened before young Joe shoots himself though so it works from a timeline point of view
But surely Bruce Willis was then
be erased from ever having existed, so anything he did (whether in his own time or the past he travelled back to) would never have happened?
Was then be
will have to watch it again
but I don't think there's anything to suggest that the past gets erased...? Or is there... the stuff about losing memories, maybe?
Really can't remember.
Well yea, but as robluvsnic says more eloquently below
The whole thing relies on you ignoring the central, unavoidable paradox that any time travel film has to have in order to function.
I'll have to rewatch it
just can't remember. Did he not get the injury before BW get retrospectively (prospectively?) erased?
Was that it, or were there other holes? I only asked, because I remember in the other thread, back when the movie came out, everyone was going on about plot holes as though time travel is a fact rather than a theory (a pretty fantastical one at that) and that the fundamentals of this theory are both well known and undisputed — completely missing the point that the movie was premised on an alternative theory of time travel.
Yeah, I saw that other thread earlier today
You have a point, but there are other holes and logical disconnects are pretty jarring nonetheless.
e.g. zxcvbnm down there
describing the cutty-offy bit as completely illogical, as though everyone knows how time travel *really* works.
The kid injured his cheek in a timeline that actually happened?
whats brick?

ben folds five's biggest hit
really really good film
if you can accept it's central conceit - which some people can't.
will check it out
cheers
(in reply to ben folds five ;)
The best film
Won't read any more of this thread cause I haven't seen it yet
Had it downloaded for about a month, really should watch it.
Yay Looper
Yay JGL
Yay Not Shit Bruce Willis
Yay
Bruce Willis was dead all along
You're thinking of The One Show
Did my first rewatch of this on Sunday
I still like it a lot but it's a little disappointing given how high my expectations were for it.It's a project I'd followed from it's very beginning stages and anything less than one of my very favourite films was going to be disappointing. My fault, not it's.
I really liked this film
Even still fancied JGL being a shit bruce wills
what was up with JGL's eyebrows though?
Was that an attempt to willis him up?
it's not very good, is it?
the ending is really, really shite.
get back to your willies
it's good.
bruce willy's
the cutty bits off bit was amazing
really really silly and completely illogical but also brilliant.
furious with myself
for whatever reason my brain failed and I couldn't work out what was going on during this bit, thus totally not getting the benefit of one of the greatest parts of the film.
Wouldnt the flat below JGL's be really pissed
that he'd built a safe into the middle of their living room?
Also he gets shot on one side but then they patch him up on the other side.
The initial premise is good
but it's a pretty poor film - clumsily written and ultimately feels like two different movies shoved together badly to make up the running time.
