where were you on Friday night???
had a good weekend. got so ruined at Unpop on Friday and then ended up at an afterparty with a lot of buckfast and eventually got home at 7:30am after a long walk and urrrggghhhhh
TODAY I have to finish an essay, hand it in and then get a train to London at 5:30pm. I'm there all week for a field trip, I think we're mostly just getting talks from boring real estate investment people. I'm mostly going so I can see the girlfriend.
Oh yeah
I couldnt find it! I didnt have my phone as I dont take it out because of the threat of DRUNK TEXTS. Shame to have missed it if buckfast was going to be there...
Is real estate a real thing? I think its American...
ahhhh
yeah, they'd closed the entrance on Lauriston Place for some reason, you had to go in on one of the side streets. shame, it was properly fun.
the term is definitely used over here (my university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Real Estate Management), but it seems to have different uses, mostly tends to be used for large commercial projects here and then you have things like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REIT#United_Kingdom. in the US it's used to refer to just about everything though and they call estate agents "realtors" which is a really ugly word.
won the local Scream pub quiz last night
tonight is the ANNUAL SCIENCE QUIZ which, last year, my team won. my old friend who doesn't even go here anymore is getting the train in just to defend our honour.
QUIZZES
Thats some dedication to the quiz cause
morning
enjoyable weekend, east, south, food, beer, UFC and an epic Nick Cave soundtracked spring clean
wWuld give my left bollock for a Deftones ticket at Brixton Academy on Wednesday, have missed the few that have gone up on twitter over the weekend :(
Possibly the manliest post Ive ever seen on here
going to hooters to watch the footy tonight
OI OI OI!
did you ever go when in nottingham?
i find it strange that the clientele is about 75% families with young kids.
food's good.
Of course I never went
I've never understood why you'd take your kids there. Its just depressing. Although I knew a couple of girls who worked there and they said people were more polite than in regular bars/clubs. Weird huh?
not really
people will generally be less drunk.
Sound reasoning
^this but switch the nouns around
Good weekend
Watched Groundhog Day for the first time last night. <3 it.
I'm A god, not THE God.
I think.
Too early for flapjacks?
What if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today!
Clean up your room. Stand up straight. Pick up your feet. Take it like a man. Be nice to your sister. Don't mix beer and wine, ever. And, oh yeah:
Don't drive on the railroad tracks.
Best scene.
I'm a bit envious DF
Seeing a great film for the first time is a thing of beauty
Enjoyable weekend
Friday went to the pub, had delicious pizza and failed to spot that asteroid.
Saturday, nice long walk out to a tea garden thing that's coincidentally next door to Jeffrey Archer's house. Made jambalaya. Ate jambalaya. Went to new brewhouse place that was a bit too trendy for me.
Sunday, slept in, made a roast (pork, thanks for asking) and bread and butter pudding, won the pub quiz.
Fuck off Monday.
the orchard <3
^5
Pretty solid weekend
Nice work.
Decent weekend thanks
Was working Friday night so that was a write-off. Saturday I cleaned my flat to an immaculate standard then went for dinner and drinks with a couple of friends. Yesterday I bought Rayman Origins (which is great) saw Lincoln (which is great) and watched Casablanca again (which is great). Also made date plans on Friday and have next week off work so got something to look forward to.
Liveblog the date
Thanks
prob not gonna do this
but I will come on here afterwards and vent when it doesn't go well.
so hungover
Meet my boyfriend in the pub after work yesterday and we ended up pub crawling our way home. I'm really scares I'm going to shit myself at work. And I have a really important meeting this afternoon. Ffs.
you need a poo?
*need to have pooed in the past
no
But I'm anxious I'm going to do one without any due warning.
Lovely post
With an equally lovely image to attach to it. Which pubs did you go to in Newcastle? I went to one recently called TILLYS coincedentally...
We went to the crown posada
The forth, Brew dog, the broad chare and three free trade inn.
I like Tilley's. Their bottles selection is mental. In a good way.
Ah I dont know them
The bottle selection was great. They had Alba which Ive never seen in a pub. Felt out of place drinking it from a wine goblet
i bought 14 pairs of socks, two pairs of brown chords and some nice new vans yesterday
14?
yeah, they came in packs of 7 and i was holding a pack of them and just realised
that if i bought two packs i could throw out ALL my other socks and i'd ONLY have new socks. it's amazing
Some people truely grab life by the scruff of the neck
new pants and trainers dude
i can't even tell you how good i feel
there are few things more satisfying than looking at your own underwear drawer stacked to the brim with brand new socks and pants
cat_race where did you get yr cords from
I really want some new cords but all the ones i've seen are either a weird cut or like bright red or something
M&S, £20 a pair
many colours and sizes. very pleasing
also, i always want to go in the games workshop in oxford
like, i feel drawn in when i walk past. but i won't know what to do once i'm in there
Dont bother
Just order stuff online and find a local gaming group for over 18s. Going into the shop will put you off for life
went to scout camp this weekend.
going to go back as a full time scouter i think to help out. cut my ankle badly though.
just ordered virgin media after BT completey buggered everything up.
what did BT do?
connected my service at the exchange
and i still didn't get service in the house. it took five phone calls and around four hours over three days for us to realise that my house actually isn't connected to the BT network and hasn't been for 10 years plus. so that's not good. cancelled the home move, the servcies are cancelling this week, and virgin are installing on thursday.
basically;
they knowingly connected me to their service even though i couldn't get it. :[
i have decided to go with BT for our new flat
and it seems they are fucking up BEFORE i've even committed to anything. so it might be virgin afterall
YEAH
as i said in the previous thread a few weeks ago i was going with BT because we already had service with them, no other reason. if i'd known that i couldn't get them i'd have gone with virgin in heartbeat. actually, no idea why i didn't just do that in the first place.
here's the thing; bt internet speed was going to be 1.5Mb to 4Mb. Virgin's will likely be 28Mb. :D
well that's good then
i've just been in one of those live chat sessions with BT saying it is IMPOSSIBLE for either of us to be there mon-fri 9-6 which is the only times an engineer could come (unless they could compensate a day off) and they're just like "no, have a nice day" fucking idiots. women have jobs now. there isn't always someone in the house. same thing as getting that fucking mattress delivered
yep
it's mental for companies to expect people to be in on normal working hours.
I think its the whole connection process
Its just a complete fuck up. People working in call centres probably dont understand how it works (and why should they?) so when it goes wrong its a pig to sort out.
yeah probbably
after a few attempts i figured out who to talk to and got the stuff i needed to know to make the connection, so to speak.
will you be a leader?
yeah
ASL
27/M/Manchester
wanna cyber?
Alright?
Things of note I did this weekend:
Put a shitload of comics on my Nexus 10. Saw Adam Buxton again. I love that man. Make Chinese steamed dumplings. They turned out really well. Sang Ocean Drive at the top of the 341. That was probably my highlight.
This week: not much, bit of pubbing planned. Planning a trip to Germany including Melt Festival for July, possibly.
In what capacity did you see Adam Buxton?
He was doing a comedy thing at the Union Chapel
with a few stand-ups, one was Isy Suttie (y'know, Dobbie from Peep Show). Obvs those two were great, but the others were a bit rubbish.
lighthouse family <3
the sun's gonna shine on everything you do!
my godmother's brother was involved in some kind of recording/production capacity on one of their later albums
So I'm kind of a big deal.
Just walked around in the sun and drank loads of vodka and sprite.
My flatmates pals came over on Saturday and two of them tried to get me to join the socialist party.
Probs be leading a revolution by the end of this week.
A revolution led by a beer & vimto drinker
It'll get nowhere.
Don't lump me in with those oddballs
MY revolution will involve no vimto.
Its a tagline which the masses can get behind
You've got the spirit of the common man nailed
Yeah, you can be in charge of propaganda
I'll be bulding a giant gold palace
I am so broken after this weekend
Went to a lovely Polish restaurant for our Polish friends 30th. Drank far too much near vodka.
Then went for a brief brunch (as I was an hour late - uh oh) and then drove down to Bournemouth for another friends 30th. Went for a walk on the beach with everyone yesterday. It was lovely.
I need sleep.
oh how lovely
`get me and all my wonderful friends`
I drank whisky. Alone. And cried.
Had a nice night on saturday though
MASSSSSSIVE chinese banquet followed by Calexico at the Ritz in manchester. Who were great obvs.
Nice sounding weekend
Did they have red cabbage at the polish dinner? We had an american diner in Nottingham that served exclusively (kind of) red cabbage when it became a polish diner at tea time
I had red cabbage, yes
I love red cabbage. I had marinated beetroot with horseradish sauce (everyone laughed at me though??!) and then I had duck with dill mash and red cabbage. And grapefruit vodka which was very nice.
Went to a country house hotel in Bedfordshire on Saturday.
And had dinner (osso bucco) at an amazing Michelin listed gastro pub. Was great, but these things are so fucking difficult without your own car - cabs in the countryside are a killer. But did some good woodland walking and saw some ENORMOUS buildings in the distance - worked out afterwards they were the Cardington Hangers, the former Royal Airship Works (AIRSHIPS!) and are now used for filming things like The Dark Knight and Inception.
la di da
Did you wear a gillet? I bet you did..
My Barbour jacket actually,
cheers.
:)
hah
I grew up not far from those airhangers. they pretty much dominate everything around them, particularly driving into bedford up the A6.
We were at Moggerhanger and came out of the woods on the top of a ridge and had this sweeping view over the plains,
and in the middle of all this flatness were these buildings - we thought someone was building the arc.
I continued to live my life and did some stuff
OMG tell me EVERYTHING!!
*squeal*
Just got my Daniel Kitson tickets
now need to go and bring home all the art from my show, in a fucking taxi. I hope one day I'll make some money rather than just rupture it, but at least it was fun!
Weekend was alright, lots of work, some sitting around, bit sad last night for no reason.
Didnt find a lift then? What a bummer
Sunday nights are the worst for feeling a bit sad. Juts seems like an empty chasm doesnt it? Hate sundays.
nope, and I know about 5 people with cars who aren't doing anything today
and I'd pay them petrol and it'd tale about 20 minutes but no one is taking the bait. The nice petrol paid and maybe even cake laden bait. Pah.
Wot I did:
Friday night watched Lincoln at the cinema for a (second) date. Didn't enjoy the film but enjoyed the company of the date, still not sure if I really want to carry on seeing her though.
Saturday morning I cycled for 30 miles and had a shit night out cos all my friends were just looking at their phones in the pub all night and there was no group cohesion. Everyone was in their own little world or trying to make others see their shite favourite Youtube videos. Was rubbish. I'm seriously considering calling them all out cos I find it depressing and hate going out when it's like that.
Sunday was another (shorter) bike ride and then gym. The girl asked if I fancied takeaway and a film this Wednesday, then after I said yeah she said her flatmates will be in so can we use my place instead. My flatmates will be in too. Sort of assumed it would be at hers, as she suggested it. Hmmph.
the phone thing is getting on my nerves too (and i'm prob just as guilty of it too tbh)
The amount of times you look around a pub or restaurant and everyone is glued to their smartphones or tablets in eerie silence is crazy now.
I quite like the idea that when you go to dinner with your friends you all stack your phones in the middle of the table; then the first person who looks at their phone has to pick up the bill.
Thte phone thing has never been too bad amongst my (admittedly limited) friends
Itd really piss me off though. I dont think bringing it up will even help! People who do it are beyon help
OH GOOD YOU ARE ALIVE
I am so broken into tiny pieces after a week of antics. Yesterday I had thai cocktails, got the train back to london at night with chintzy, went out in islington and made a cattledog do a headstand.
:D
What the hells a cattledog and how does it do a handstand?!
cattledog!
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images18/AustralianCattleDogMaxFullGrown.JPG
He likes frazzles. I used them as bait and got him to do a headstand against a wall with hias head in my handbag. Please don't call the rspca.
Sounds like he was loving it. No cruelty as far as Im concerned
Were you more civilized at that hotel this time? Are you now banned?
we were
The nightstaff loved me and craigfoley so much that they didn't charge us for our nightcaps and the girl came up to our room to pass me a note (it had her personal wifi password on it).
Schmoozing
Constantly schmoozing
constantly
We also managted to miss our checkout by an hour and not get into trouble this time. I think we practically own that hotel now :) I take it you managed to find yours ok!?
Was the champagne woman there?
No idea, I woke up in a hotel so I assume I did :D
I didb't see champagne woman on saturday or sunday
so I can only assume that I mangaed to get her sacked at christmas.
i bought a pack of two pre-buttered slices of malt loaf for breakfast this morning
the butter wasn't salty enough
what the hell?
You need to explain yourself
miles worse than ordering takeaway pizza in the middle of the day
Morning
Weekend was an eye opener
sat outside the place i'm working today
for 45 minutes coz nobody was here
Lovely chilled weekend.
Considering my fragile state on Friday, it was needed.
Brunch with lovely ladies on Saturday, followed by a boozy trip to the cinema. I love red wine in coffee cups to spice up a film.
Sunday relaxed and ate left over chewy sweets.
WHAT CHEWY SWEETS?
Jelly Babies.
Thursday
ill
Friday
ill
Saturday
ill
sunday
ill but got bored and was twee beyond belief. Vintage fair and earl grey tea and cupcakes.
Vomit.
By the way 500 Days of Summer is a massive shit film and it wasted 1 and a half hours of my life that I will never regain.
Why was it an eye opener?
Has the twee lifestyle sucked you into its warm knittted embrace?
No!
£7 for a cup of tea and a cupcake?! I can get a whole meal and beer for that in Wetherspoons!
I did, however buy a lovely electric blue 1960s mod dress and haggled it for a tenner which was nice.
How are you duckling?
You cant have a twee lifestyle goign to wetherspoons
I think youve come to the right decision. Im good CHEERS!
I fucking love 500 Days of Summer and i don't care how schmindie it makes me
What was the eye opener? Just that you don't like 500 Days of Summer?
Was mostly ill and saw Wreck it Ralph.
It was pleasant.
my universities 'official' take on the harlem shake is on the front page of youtube and has over 80k views
this is supposed to be a world class rated research facility
I don't see how those two things are mutually exclusive
because a place of world class rated research shouldn't be acting like the Scranton branch of Dunder Milfin
I don't think that being a place of world class rated research necessitates being unremittingly po-faced
yeah but
aping the latest shite arsed internet fad?
come on
they'll be forwarding an email full of peter kay quotes to everyone in the office address book next
mate, have a gander and this and try not to cry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGi76pkr5PM&feature=youtu.be
:'''(
Why his this Harlem Shake nonsense taken off all of a sudden?
Actually quite like the song in all it's obnoxious glory, but it came out nearly a year ago. Why so popular now?
Decided to be an adult and learn to drive
Exciting times.
among some other more important things
I had a cold drip coffee with tonic and ice. It was great but I think I might be a ponce now
Matt had that once
At pink lane. It was so gross.
*great
Aye that was where I had it. Good cake there as well
cold fizzy coffee?
isn't that just what Coke is?
i hope it wasnt just coke
It was quite sweet
Have I been swizzed
the person who has the desk behind me hardly ever comes into the office
but every time she does she arrives just as I'm planning on leaving for one reason or another. She probably thinks I hate her.
just used facts to show my boss that his estimate of £70k should actually be £24k
i've now been asked to work out how to hide facts
do you work for a council and/or the government?
no
is this the sort of thing that goes on for them?
am i allowed to leave work early if my desk is too hot
