It involved RDJ pretending to be black AND Australian, Jack Black pretending to throw up, and Ben Stiller pretending to be 'simple'. How in the fuck did this get made, especially in 2008?
By the fact that I'm now watching a documentary on Norman Wisdom, who was one of the most tragic, incredible, hilarious people of all time, the complete antithesis of someone like Robert Downey Jr, and yet goes completely overlooked.
its about time someone clamped down and i nominate me
But don't understand what's wrong with the blacking up, it's to make the character look absolutely as stupid as it implies and he's called up on it in the film.
'Oh look at RJD pretending to be black, how funny!'
'Oh look at Ben Stiller pretending to have learning difficulties, how funny!'
Proper lowest common denominator shit.
but don't think it's morally reprehensible to me
maybe overstepped the mark, because I think RDJ was made to look ridiculous about blacking up but maybe less so with Stiller.
It's a film that mocks the pomposity and sheer lack of self-awareness that some actors possess.
or didn't get the joke
even when they weren't filming I mean
his character is an insanely devoted (Australian, white) method actor
So in context it's just another part in a shit film
Grow up you fucking bedwetters. If ever a film was light-hearted and self-referrential this is it.
at the expense of his massive misunderstanding of this film
That consequently no-one got.
given the context of the joke it shouldn't be considered offensive, the film was mostly crap though.
Feeling a bit anxious about parody films today. [anyone] isnt going to sleep with you, you know
that was the joke.
