I've just completed a job application form and handed it in, 30 minutes before the deadline.
It took me about 12 hours to do.
I went home and I had barely set foot inside and they were ringing me. No, surely, surely not. My application was good but they surely can't be that quick to decide i'm brilliant and deserve the job outright. Right?
'Hello, can I speak to Mr Parker?'
'Speaking'
'Hi, i'm sorry but can I ask where you got the application form from?'
'er, from the job listing on the Blackpool council site'
'Ah, i'm afraid there's been an error at some point. The application form listed on the council's site is incorrect, you need to fill in the Catholic Education Service's form.'
'Oh, i see. What about the deadline, it's supposed to be in about ten minutes isn't it?'
'Well yes, but due to these circumstances we have decided to extend the deadline until 5pm this evening, so you should have plenty of time'
'Right, well thank you for letting me know'
TWELVE FUCKING HOURS. TWELVE.
Fortunately, the new form is one of the better designed ones I have seen and didn't collapse in on itself the second you have the audacity to try and enter something.
I would have expected them to just accept the alternate form... the information isn't drastically different on it. Grrrr
Still, it's handed in now and who knows, perhaps some of the other applicants might have given up half way through the second form.....

I'd probably keep quiet about the fact that it took you 12 hours to fill out a form
no way, it takes days to fill out application forms for some jobs
so it's resolved and we don't need to discuss it?
cool
This would have gone on facebook, but y'know.
but facebook limits you to 140 characters
i know
so it's resolved and we don't need to discuss it

jet lag is not a thing
a thing
what?
i don't believe in discussing resolved issues
hmmmm......
until you lot agree with me, stuff isn't resolved
i think you might be a low-level sociopath
are they always right? if so then i agree
Most places probably wouldn't have bothered telling you there was an issue.
And it would have been lost for ever.
Take heart from that, and at least you could probably just C&P stuff over for the second one.
If I get the job they can have some biscuits or something.
Otherwise it's impotent rage all the way i'm afraid.
You can't copy and paste stuff you've written in crayon.
councils are right fuck ons
when i had apply internally for an internal only position i had to sign up for a website which hosted applications for three local authorities have my account authorised as an internal not external candidate then go through all of the process you would for as an external applicant anyway.
and yet they'll appoint people 7 or 8 pay grades above where i was via expressions of interest and one side personal statements submitted by email
That reminds me
Now that I work here properly I need to bollock HR about how stupid their application form is
good luck getting the job!
