recommend me some
Cowards (Both seasons)
Louis CK - Word (Live at Carnegie Hall)
is fucking brilliant
Lots of old radio/TV shows available on CD. I was brought up listening to episodes of Hancock which are worth a listen. Personal favourite was 12 Angry Men b/w The Lift
Probably my all-time favourite would be Round The Horne, which was a late-60s radio show. Quite risque for its day, still very funny
is probably Wreck On Tour by Billy Connolly
"Ad Nauseum" is pretty good, too. "Come Again" is mostly shit.
many of the jokes will be lost on most people here (i.e. under 32 and not Australian) but fuck it was funny when I was a kid.
Is stand-up what you're after, or just novelty songs?
he is dry as a bone though. If you listen to one joke you'll probably know if you're going to love it all or not.
I really like him
might check em out
Kenny Everett - Not In The Best Possible Taste (wonderfully old skool, including Willie Rushton, Barry Cryer stand up spots)
Rowan Atkinson - Live In Belfast
(these two are easily google-able to acquire)
Doug Stanhope - Deadbeat Hero
David Cross - Shut Up You Fucking Baby
Patton Oswalt - Werewolves and Lollipops
Robin Williams - Live On Broadway/A Night at the Met
and of course Eddie Izzard - Sexie
is great, too. Great, intelligent post-9/11 stuff
Neil Hamburger Sings Country Winners
one of the greatest openings to any song ever 'I once met a man with no legs who asked me to carry him to his grave'. It's the way he sings it
`How Can I Still Be Patriotic (When They've Taken Away My Right to Cry)`
my favourite bit is the last time he sings I DECIDED TO TAKE MY OWN LIIIIIIFE
that doesn't sound funny typed out at all mind.
his live album where he does his set as support for Tenacious D is awesome, worth it just for the Tenacious D fans losing the plot with him.
i got given the second david o'doherty one and the eugene mirman one that subpop put out. the only ones i've got for myself are the david sedaris audiobooks and first aziz ansari one.
maria bamford - how to win!/ unwanted thoughts syndrome/ burning bridges tour
james adomian - low hanging fruit
it's so great. her mum sounds exactly like that. i read some stuff about her killing her dog on the internet that was about as sad a thing as i've ever read. i hope she's always ok.
'We pissed and shit on eachother with impunity' Was gutted when I read Maria's piece about her dying.
Did you catch her return to the Nerdist podcast? Maria spent another stint under care and I definitely feel the new special is darker for it. And i know what you mean about hoping she's ok- absolutely my favourite comedian.
yeah it's like zsa zsa gabor or something, great stuff. her hack comedian character is as funny a thing as i can think of too... am i right ladies!? i can't feel my hands.
i've never bothered with nerdist but i probably will have a listen to that one, just re-watched all the maria bamford show episodes. she's so great <3
Bill Burr - Emotionally Unavailable
Patrice O'Neal - Mr P
and hella good, too
The finest comedian/impressionist of our time.
is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. US comedian, absurdist and smart, not unlike an American Eddie Izzard in some ways but not so formulaic.
Hannibal Buress - My Name Is Hannibal
Bill Burr - Emotionally Unavailable
Bill Scott - I'm Still Thinking
And a big This to whoever recommended Patton Oswalt & Maria Bamford
Nice mix between funny and disturbing
Collects most of his recorded output - all great.
only available digitally though :-(
as much as I love some of them you don't go back and spin these things all the time do ye. Or indeed more than about twice.
I can honestly say this album has been a constant source of inspiration to me, and a great comfort in times of stress.
Rest in peace, sir.
My belt holds my pants up, but the belt loops hold my belt up. I don't really know what's happening down there. Who is the real hero?
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.
Love Mitch Hedburg.
Daniel Tosh gets me larfing like no other.
Might go see Brian Regan show upcoming...?
not albums but...
Limmy's World Of Glasgow Podcast
Venom - Live at City Gardens(compilation of between song banter from black metal legends Venom, unintentional comedy gold!)
