besides Forza obviously
so yeah. But they're mostly just alright. Watchable though. To a degree.
The *classics* are more interesting as social history then as entertainment, and the later ones are so awful it's unbelievable.
Kenneth Williams and Charles Hawtrey are both ace, obviously.
I thought they were hilarious when I watched them 25+ years ago as a kid.
I'm pretty sure if I watched them today, though, they would barely raise a smile
that stink of liquid piss.
And often very funny.
why do you like them?
They might be dated and cheesy but they have a period charm
Dr. Kenneth Soaper: Barbara dear, do you think your quite suitably dressed for travelling?
Babs: Oh but sir, we were told to bring the minimum of clothing!
Love love love. Reminds me of that warm fuzzy feeling with my nan.
They hark back to a pre-video age when families would sit down together and watch a film on the TV (weird eh?). There is a nostalgia for that feeling.
does anyone think the Scary Movie films will be in any way remembered in 40 years time?
because the carry on films were loved at the time and everyone thinks scary movie is shit
also culture is more desposible now so scary movie will be forgotten while carry on existed at a time when the relative lack of alternatives cemented it as a defining artifact of its time
90 minutes of the worst form of humour (which is obviously sexual innuendos)
but if you want to watch them, go ahead
They're both good anyway.
Carry on Dick is probably my fav.
[insert own punchline]
My friend is going out with a 22 year old Kurdish guy and he loves them. She bought them all for him for Christmas and his favourite is Carry on Cruising. He also referred to Sid James as the one with the laugh and then made a passable Sid James laugh impersonation.
it is hilarious
harry h cobett is so much better than sid james.
plus the film is stronger, plus it has fennela fielding "well do you mind if I do" (smoke)
Kenneth Williams and Hawtry are brilliant in all of them though
Up the Khyber and Cleo are reasonable also.
The rest ... less so.
I hate the others
