Press ctrl +alt + and a direction and the whole screen turns that way. Upside down screen!
I had no idea what I'd done. Called the helpline and everything (didn't have internet at home then). You know what he suggested? Resetting it to factory settings, which is what I had to do. When it happened a few years later, I googled it and it took two seconds to fix. It then became a CLASSIC prank.
Changing the system font to something that wouldn't display as plain text, like Wingdings or something. Characters in all menus and windows then display as that little rectangle doodad - just millions of them all over the place.
Everything works as normal, except you can't read or do anything with the OS. Word docs work, as well as anything that runs text 'inside' it like a browser. But as soon as they open an Explorer window or press the Start button, hilarity.
And there's no shortcut to undo it, so you have to take notes as you go, so you know how to reverse it.
Do a printscreen of the desktop.
Hide desktop items and taskbar.
Set image of desktop as the background image on the desktop.
Watch victim panic: "OH MY GOD NOTHING'S RESPONDING WHEN I CLICK ON IT."
Was very glad to find the fix, was preparing for some awkward typing.
And I've owned some PCs with some pretty amazing graphics cards. I think you're all just technologically challenged.

It is a software thing I think, usually to do with the little 'graphics manager' thing that sits in the systray. All dells seem to do it.
and it's always someone who's never heard of it before.
Brings up task manager without going through the other screen.
Windows + printscr on Windows 8 does a screenshot and saves it directly into pictures.
Seriously, I like that one.
