Just bought the box set and started it this week. Only on episode 4 but my god its good. The music itself is fantastic!
that there was a thread about them looking at making a third series?
would be set now with the same characters
apparently mr lynch has been talking about it
there seems to be a rumour about a third series every few years but Mark Frost has dismissed them yet again. I can't imagine if a third series would be any good to be honest.
...I'd wager that most of them would be 'available'.
I mean she'd be pretty pivotal, yeah?
was it 20 years? Have we missed him coming out..?
The thing about Twin Peaks is that it was very much of its time, in a good way – it was pointedly retro then, I think it would seem forced if it was done in the same style now... if Lynch did revisit it I'm sure it'd be loads more like Fire Walk With Me than a first series vibe
I think it's fair to say that doesn't give very much away
and was listening to it on the way to work. Freaked me out a little!
I got the box set about 2 weeks ago, I think I'm up to episode 13. It's superb.
To incorporate that many original ideas into a TV series is impressive, I've done a lot of reading on the themes / symbolism and it's insane.
It loses its way midway during the second series (mainly due to Lynch buggering off to do Wild At Heart) but lands back on track for the finale. Great stuff.
dunno why people keep saying this. The whole point of the programme isn't the murder mystery.
In actual fact though it does get annoying about that time because you realise it's not gonna end properly and lo and behold you get to the end of the last episode and he tags on a shitty 'ambiguous' ending and it turns out all the 'symbolism' is leading nowhere because it's been made up as on the spot during filming.
Well, it is a murder mystery to an extent. The importance you give that element is up to you...
But I think the downward trajectory after the revealing of the killer is both drastic and logical. Crucially, it gives the narrative a) structure, b) purpose and c) the source of a lot of its comedy. After that goes... so does a lot of the brilliance of the show.
So, yeah, it's not entirely a murder mystery, but the murder mystery part is the crucial device off which everything else develops...
they knew the show had been cancelled.
Exceptional programming in every aspect.
I only ever manage to get about four episodes in and then give up
the major guy got kidnapped by whatever it was
which is obviously still hugely expensive for a tape, but I couldn't resist.
The second series is confused and all over the place but still good. They had to give a conclusion to Laura Palmer halfway through because of pressure from the TV network. But it still works.
Would love to know if they had to try that multiple times or whether it was an accident...
Was done on the first attempt/take. Lucy wasn't supposed to jump up like that - the actress did so completely out of excitement. Lovely stuff.
and my social life took over. I think it's my favourite work by Lynch, weird but doesn't melt your brain completely.
Just really extraordinary television.
The relationship between Cooper and Sheriff Truman (well, up until about 5 episodes from the end at least). Don't think two TV characters have crackled with such warmth and admiration for each other since. Really beautiful, it is.
to the roadhouse and harry turns up himself - beyond heartwarming. so awesome.
never got round to the second. should go back really
NoahVale, sexybum and Creaky, obv.
I just remember how EVERYONE at school was watching it and I don't think mum and I even had a VCR then so we had to take the phone off the hook earlier in the evening and lock our door to ensure no calls and the downstairs neighbour didn't come up to ask about something.
I also remember the agonising wait (like 3 weeks?) between the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2. ARGH!
The final episode was really disappointing at the time. It was odd watching it back on DVD and not even noticing the big mid-season slump that everyone felt at the time and thinking how incredible the ending actually was.
I was like 12 or 13 and watched every episode with my mum and mt friend Bob (not evil Bob). I was looking theough my old French books and there are many references to j'adore Twin Peaks. J'aime Agent Cooper etc. After reading this i have just bought the box set on Amazon. My girlfriend has never seen it so i look forward to watching it all with her (i have seen the series about five times and have never not loved it)
Not watched it since. Maybe I should since I probably didn't have much blood left in my head when Sherilyn Fenn was onscreen.
Yeah, definitely re-watch.
theres an absurd amount of beautiful women on twin peaks. ABSURD
If you like the music lynch released over 200 tracks on his website, loads of great stuff that isn't on the soundtrack CDs
the major guy got kidnapped by whatever it was then? Cos it got really, really shit for a few episodes. A lot of the characters became a parody of their former selves, Audrey stopped being in any way an interesting character (as did a load of others actually), David Duchovny appeared as a trans woman cos it's `weird`, and y'know it just got rubbish. But yeah if it somehow picks up loads then i should watch it again really shouldn't i.
The middle third of season 2 is a definite slump but it picks up, the windom Earle story line is as good as anything from season 1 and it has the best finale I've seen (no idea why people think a season 3 is necessary)
