I use papa john's.
gotta admit I've never had a Papa John's but I'm not a fan of other takeaway chains. at a push I'll eat from Dominos but I'd rather not unless I have to.
Even the Domino's at a push bit, although it's been years since I've been at a push. Better value, taste heaps better, you can get'em to mix up the toppings how you like. Leave heaps more grease in the bottom of the box, which I consider a good thing. Don't know how those big chains survive tbh.
does anybody ever actually pay full price for chain takeaway pizza?
I know you've said take out but I have to be sure on this before giving a full and frank answer
but I can't help but feel like I'm getting the piss taken out of me paying £15+ for a pizza
50% off all pizzas atm.
which roughly converts to about £3. We have a pizza price war going on at the moment though, which certainly helps.
Don't really see the point of it.
you can pop in the oven at home.
Its pretty expensive as a take away and you don't really get that much for your money. I'd rather get an indian or a thai or even fish and chips.
And of course you could make it, but you could make lot's of things that you order ...
The point is, they bring it to you, and it is tastier than the one's you have to go and get from the supermarket. Which are all like re-heated pizza express style crap. Never enough cheese.
I AM INCREDULOUS !!
just putting this out there.
Sometimes as low as £1.25 for a pizza for one!
the pepperoni one in particular
as I have pizza quite often. I'm not a huge fan of thick based greasy pizza anyway so seems a waste of money to buy a really thin one with fancy toppings for like £12 or something. Also I'm a pig and like to have garlic bread. I really like papa johns garlic pizza bread with cheese and you get that pizza dip with it <3
and so tasty. what do you do as an alternate?
Although an actual pizza crust is a pain in the arse becuase of the yeast. So we just use a scone dough.
er... except if you want to make a pizza crust.
Just order one Charlie, get it down you.
but I'm never really gunning for a take away. I'd rather cook something or go out to dinner. I don't find that whole thing a faff.
but you're one of those semi-foodie types, right? surely you /can/ see the point?
Especially takeaway pizza.
I wouldn't say I was a semi foodie type but I like cooking if thats what you're saying.
I can see the point that its quick and its really nice but its just as quick to get a pizza express pizza for £4, pop it in the oven and save yourself £10-£15. I just never get it cause I don't *really* see it as a take away as take aways for me are a treat and a chance to gorge and spoil myself but I have pizza for tea on like a Tuesday but I wouldn't have a take away on a Tuesday.
outside of that, agreed.
When I was living alone, I could get a decent curry for one, or Chinese for one, or pizza for one, all around £10 - £15 quid. But the curry or Chinese I would happily eat in one meal, but at XXL pizza from Papa John's, well I'd be having that for breakfast and maybe more.
chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce
chicken in black bean sauce
egg fried rice
Can get a battered sausage, pie and chips for sub a fiver from the chippie
For around £9 can get a curry that I won't be able to stand up after
Pizza just doesn't stack up
ergo as a starting meal. wait, just noticed the cheesy bit, what's cheesy garlic bread? that's not a thing is it?
"what shall we get to start? oh, how about a much more boring version of THE THING WE ARE ABOUT TO EAT ANYWAY"
I normally have pizza AND garlic bread so I normally have garlic bread to start cause im well hungry and then save a bit of it for when I'm having my pizza.
DEAL WITH IT
2. Papa Johns
3. Local cheap-o ones
4. The rest
I kinda live above a pizza hut, so can get some tidy deals for minimum effort. Also good shabs catching our next door neighbours shamefully getting it delivered :D
Papa Johns is really nice, bit toppish price wise and isn't one near me. I like going with local non chain ones as you can usually get top deals out of them for massive pizzas.
Dominos is way too expensive and shit. Allow that
their dip is an abomination
Since when do you fucking have dip with pizza? Garlic bread, sure. Soft drink, OK, but I'll have a beer. But dip?
you are wrong and i miss pizza hut garlic and herb dip with all my soul
Oh, ok then. Rings a vague bell. Clearly I am not wrong though, because I don't see too many italians having dip with their pizza.
italy kindly asks you to fuck off and stop besmirching its name
Wikipedia lies about little things, not the big stuff like where pizza comes from.
pizza comes from new york
you can take your weedy continental flatbread and do one.
but i wouldn't go so far as to call it italian food)
AND IT'S DELICIOUS. 'real' 'italian' pizza can get tae fuck tbh
It;s the dip I can't fucking fathom.
Couple of Hollands meat pies as garnish would make it CULINARY SEX
if this is wrong i don't wanna be right
Is it a relatively recent phenomenon? Or have you all been dipping your crusts since the moment you got off the teat.
their pizza suace is better than the rest
I ordered one once, slightly misunderstood the whole 1/2 metre minimum order gubbins and ended up with something the size of an estate agents for sale sign. Just for me.
I think I prefer that one.
So them, but as mentioned above the dip is truly atrocious. They also send me loads of marketing crap (including once to a friend's house when I ordered something there).
Pizza 2 Night on my way home from work
Except the sign made it look like it was called PIZZA NIGHT 2
Dominos has some good deals if there's a group of you, but isn't amazing.
So usually we make our own. Do I get any indie points for this, forza?
Dominos if I can.
you rich twerps
Nothing wrong with a frozen pizza, but it's not the same.
Stuffed crust in any size, and it's better than the Pizza Hut effort. There, I said it.
The only problem is there's so little parking near my flat that the delivery guy will just call me up and have me stand across the road where he can pull over, looking shifty as fuck until a guy pulls up in front of me, I throw some notes through his window and shuffle back inside before any of the neighbours see my shameful purchase.
I feel this would be less of an issue if the street layout didn't force me to be loitering in front of a sex shop the whole time this is happening.
Having to stockpile dips fomr Dominos/ PH is just too exhausting, and the PJ dips are RANK.
I'm working half the night tonight in the office trying to do a stupid work thing and we're getting pizza (WHOOPDEFUCKINGDOO, I'd rather be at home fnshing my laudry and prepping my body and mind for THE WEEKEND, but no, pizza will definitely appease me. muppets.)
I'm going to push for Pizza hut, even though I have a 2 for 1 Dominos voucher.
Dominos isn't too bad, although I wouldn't even consider paying the kinds of prices you guys are paying for them, that's outrageous
and I'm not talking about the shit you sleep in!
I mean, he doesn't look 51.
...because it's clearly the nicest and i don't particularly care about earning indie points for stuff like that.
a pizza and a few sides for two, with measly toppings (even on "meat feast"), can be over £30. You could eat at a nice restaurant and have steaks each for that! The idea of their wedges and chicken strip thingys sounds nice but put them on a plate and they are a sad floppy mess. We have several chippies and kebab shops which do pizzas for £5 which come with chips (proper chippy chips and all), and even these beat a Dominos effort. The only time it is worth a chain pizza is if they have a 50% off code. The best of the bunch is Pizza Go-Go, they actually bother to put a decent amount of cheese and toppings on which is nice.
but if do i'll go to pizzaholic cos sometimes they breakdance and it was even in the local newspaper and they were so happy about it that they put it on the back of all of their menus that they post through the door and i can't hate them for that.
